The Pittsburgh Pirates have never beaten the Oakland Athletics, but that may change as the two teams continue a three-game series Tuesday night.

Let’s take a closer look at the MLB betting odds for this interleague matchup at PNC Park, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.

Oakland improved to 10-0 all-time against Pittsburgh Monday, as it picked up a 2-1 series-opening victory, while going UNDER the betting total of 7.5.

The Athletics have won 12 of their 16 interleague games this season, with the UNDER going 9-7 in that situation.

The Pittsburgh Pirates will try to avoid only their second four-game losing streak of the season, as the offense has manage to score just five combined runs in its previous three contests, with the UNDER cashing in each of those opportunities.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the Pirates are 27-25 at home with a money line of -100 to -125, including a 4-3 mark in 2013.

Athletics starting pitcher Dan Straily (5-2, 4.52 ERA) earned a 1-0 home victory over the Chicago Cubs last time out, as he allowed just a single hit over seven shutout innings.

The right-hander is 2-1 with a 5.31 ERA in seven road games, issuing 13 walks and striking out 33 batters in 39 combined frames.

Straily has compiled a 2-0 record and 0.69 ERA in two career interleague starts, but will be facing the Pirates for the first time.

Pirates starting pitcher Gerrit Cole (4-1, 3.94 ERA) suffered his first MLB loss last time out, as he allowed three runs and eight hits over 5.1 innings in a 6-4 home defeat to the Philadelphia Phillies.

The right-hander is 3-1 with a 4.24 ERA in four home outings, with opposing hitters batting .326 against him.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Pirates as one of their MLB picks Tuesday, as they’ve gone 12-3 in their last 15 interleague home games versus right-handed starters.

Pittsburgh long reliever Jeanmar Gomez could play a big role in this affair, as he's gone 2-0 with a 1.02 ERA in four career games (three starts) versus the Athletics.
