Max Scherzer will try to become the first Detroit Tigers pitcher to start a season with a 10-0 record, as he prepares to take on the Baltimore Orioles Monday night.

Let’s take a closer look at the MLB odds for this American League matchup at Comerica Park, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:08 p.m. ET.

Check out our Monday Morning MLB Odds & Betting Lines Report.

Dangerous underdog

Baltimore has the best winning percentage in baseball since July 29, 2012, which makes the club a dangerous road underdog when looking over the betting odds Monday, as it comes off a 6-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox Sunday.

The Orioles are 36-16 in their last 52 game versus a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15, with the OVER going 3-1-2 in their last six opportunities in that situation.

Alternating pattern

Detroit has alternated wins and losses over its last seven games, as it picked up a 5-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins as -146 road favorites Sunday, while pushing up against the betting total of 9.

The Tigers are 5-0 in their last five home games following a road trip of seven or more days, but third baseman Miguel Cabrera is batting just .179 over his last nine contests.

Orioles starting pitcher Jake Arrieta (1-1, 6.63 ERA) hasn’t appeared in a MLB game since April 21, but he’s allowed 15 runs in 10.2 combined innings over his last two efforts in the minors.

The right-hander is 10-12 with a 5.05 ERA in 33 road games (29 starts), as he prepares to make just his second appearance at this ballpark (6.1 IP, ER).

In two career games versus the Tigers, Arrieta has tallied a 1-0 record and 1.46 ERA—not surrendering a home run in 12.1 combined frames.

Tigers starting pitcher Max Scherzer (9-0, 3.19 ERA) has led the club to back-to-back wins, including a 3-2 road victory over the Kansas City Royals last time out, as he allowed two runs and three hits over seven impressive innings.

The right-hander is 6-0 with a 4.57 ERA in seven home appearances, with opposing hitters batting just .212 against him.

In five lifetime starts versus the Orioles, Scherzer is 2-1 with a 4.36 ERA, including a no-decision effort in a 7-5 road loss on May 31.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Orioles as one of their MLB picks Monday, as they’ve won Arrieta’s last four starts versus AL Central opponents.
