The Baltimore Orioles have enjoyed great success following an off day in recent years, as they prepare to open up a three-game series against the San Diego Padres Tuesday night.

Let’s take a closer look at the MLB betting odds for this interleague matchup at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.

Swept away

San Diego was unable to hold a lead in the fifth inning or later against Tampa Bay, as it ultimately suffered a three-game road sweep at Tropicana Field, which ended with a 4-2 defeat as +136 underdogs Sunday.

The Padres are 14-19 against National League opponents the last two-plus seasons, with the UNDER going 18-15 in that situation.

Keeping pace

Baltimore sits one game back of the New York Yankees in the competitive American League East division, as it has won seven of its last 10 games, including a 6-0 victory over the Minnesota Twins as -104 road underdogs Sunday.

The Orioles are 10-6 versus teams with a losing record during the 2013 campaign, with the OVER going 9-5-2 in those 16 opportunities.

Padres starting pitcher Andrew Cashner (2-2, 3.23 ERA) has seen the club alternate wins and losses over his four starts this season, as he comes off a 5-0 home victory over the Miami Marlins, allowing four hits over 7.1 shutout innings.

The right-hander is 0-2 with a 5.79 ERA in five road appearances (two starts), issuing 10 walks and striking out 13 batters in 14 combined frames.

Cashner has compiled a 0-7 record and 4.61 ERA in 53 career road games (five starts), as he prepares to face the Orioles for the first time in his career.

Orioles starting pitcher Chris Tillman (3-1, 3.76 ERA) has won three consecutive efforts, including a 5-3 home victory over the Kansas City Royals last time out, as he surrendered three runs and five hits over six frames.

The right-hander is 1-1 with a 5.48 ERA in four home outings—serving up five home runs in 21.1 innings of work.

Baltimore has tallied a 13-6 record in Tillman’s last 19 home starts, as he gets set to make his first-ever appearance versus the Padres.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Orioles as one of their MLB picks Tuesday, as the Padres are 1-9 as road underdogs of +125 to +150 this season.

Baltimore has also proven victorious in nine of its last 11 interleague home games.

MLB Pick:  Baltimore Orioles -135
