The Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals could play another game of Home Run Derby, as the two teams close out a home-and-home series Thursday night.

Let’s take a closer look at the MLB betting odds for this interleague matchup, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.

Falling into a pattern

Washington has alternated wins and losses over its last six games, as it attempts to bounce back from a 9-6 setback to Baltimore as +104 road underdogs Wednesday, while going OVER the betting total for a sixth consecutive contest.

The Nationals are 24-17 against American League opponents the last two-plus seasons, including a 6-2 mark during the 2013 campaign.

Power lineup

Baltimore hit four home runs last time out—boosting its Major League-leading total to 75 on the year. First baseman Chris Davis accounted for two of those round trippers, while he’s also hitting .370 with 22 RBI in the month of May.

The Orioles are 19-13 as home favorites of -125 to -150 since 2011, with the OVER going 18-13-1 in that situation.

Nationals starting pitcher Dan Haren (4-5, 5.43 ERA) has watched the club drop his last three efforts, as he didn’t earn a decision in a 5-3 home loss to the Philadelphia Phillies last time out, allowing three runs and four hits over six frames.

The right-hander is 1-4 with a 6.04 ERA in five road starts, surrendering eight home runs in 28.1 combined innings.

In 11 career appearances versus the Orioles, Haren has compiled a 5-3 record and 4.02 ERA, including a 3-1 mark and 3.52 ERA in six efforts at this ballpark.

Orioles starting pitcher Freddy Garcia (1-2, 4.61 ERA) picked up a 6-5 road victory over the Toronto Blue Jays last time out, as he allowed three runs (two earned) and nine hits over five frames.

The right-hander is 0-2 with a 5.74 ERA in three home efforts, with opposing hitters batting .254 against him.

In two career games (one start) versus the Nationals, Garcia has tallied a 2-0 record and 3.00 ERA.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Orioles as one of their MLB picks Thursday, as the Nationals are 2-7 as road underdogs of +100 to +125 during the 2013 campaign.
