The New York Mets have enjoyed some recent success against left-handed starting pitchers, which makes them a playable option versus the Arizona Diamondbacks Monday. Where have we decided to place our MLB picks in this matchup?

Let’s take a closer look at the MLB betting odds for this National League matchup at Citi Field, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET.

Rotation failures

Arizona’s starting rotation fell to 0-10 with a 5.15 ERA in its last 22 games Sunday, as it suffered a 6-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves as +138 road underdogs, while pushing up against the betting total of 8.

The Diamondbacks are 6-3 on the road with a money line of -100 to -125 this season, with the OVER going 5-4 in that situation.

Alternating pattern

New York has alternated wins and losses over its last four games, as it attempts to bounce back from a 13-2 blowout defeat to the Washington Nationals as +124 home underdogs last time out.

The Mets have tallied a winning 15-13 record overall against left-handed starters this season, including a 7-3 mark in their last 10 opportunities.

Diamondbacks starting pitcher Wade Miley (4-7, 4.55 ERA) hasn’t earned a victory since June 5, as he suffered a 3-2 road loss to the Washington Nationals last time out, allowing three runs (two earned) and seven hits over seven frames.

The left-hander is 3-5 with a 3.82 ERA in 11 road games, surrendering nine home runs in 70.2 combined innings.

In two career starts versus the Mets, Miley has tallied an 0-1 record and 5.56 ERA, but hasn’t served up a long ball in 11.1 frames.

Mets starting pitcher Shaun Marcum (1-9, 5.08 ERA) earned his first victory last time out, as he picked up a 3-0 road win over the Chicago White Sox, allowing four hits over eight shutout frames.

The right-hander is 0-5 with a 5.60 ERA in six home games (five starts), issuing just four walks and striking out 35 batters in 35.1 combined innings.

In two career starts versus the Diamondbacks, Marcum has gone 1-0 with a 5.73 ERA.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Mets as one of their MLB picks Monday, as the Diamondbacks are 1-10 in their last 11 road games with a betting total of 7 to 8.5.

It’s important to point out that current weather forecasts suggest a 60-80 percent chance of rain in the New York area, which could make this a bullpen battle if a delay occurs early on.

Arizona’s long reliever Josh Collmenter was used Sunday, which supplies a edge to New York if that event occurs.
