The Philadelphia Phillies moved to 7-2 in their last nine games with Monday’s 2-1 victory as 134 road favorites against the New York Mets. Tuesday’s rematch has Mets lefty Jon Niese (5-6, 4.03 ERA) facing Phillies right-hander Kyle Kendrick (10-10, 4.45 ERA).

Check out our Tuesday Morning MLB Odds & Betting Lines Report.

Phillies, Asche hold on

Phillies third baseman Cody Asche cracked a two-run triple in Monday’s fourth inning, hitting 2-for-3. Philadelphia’s Jonathan Papelbon tossed a hitless final frame for his 22nd save, relieving starter Cliff Lee after eight straight innings of action.

Mets outfielder Marlon Byrd went 2-for-4 from the team’s cleanup spot, including his 26th double of the year. New York was edged in hits, 6-5, while the contest’s combined three runs dipped UNDER the ‘total’ of seven.

Niese outdueled at home

Jonathan Niese picked up a no-decision in Wednesday’s 4-1 defeat for New York as a 134 home dog to the Atlanta Braves. The sixth-year hurler allowed one run over seven innings, while tossing nine strikeouts.

Mets reliever Scott Atchison logged his staff’s loss, following mate Greg Burke surrendering a three-run homer in the 10th frame. New York’s Andrew Brown and John Buck were held to a combined 0-for-8 day, leaving seven men on base.

Kendrick cashes as ‘chalk’

Kyle Kendrick saw action the following night, lasting five frames for a no-decision in Philadelphia’s 5-4 victory over the Colorado Rockies. The Houston native gave up four earned runs on eight hits, collecting as a 128 home favorite.

Philadelphia’s Darin Ruf began a four-run rally over the final two innings, drilling a clutch two-out homer. Phillies mates Michael Young and Domonic Brown went on to log the team’s tying and winning RBIs, finishing a combined 3-for-10.

Back the Phillies as road dogs

Niese opened as a 135 home favorite at, while initial wagers on Philadelphia dropped the MLB odds to minus 130. The ‘total’ was first set at 7 ½, with a minus 115 lean to the OVER.

I am backing Kendrick and the Phillies with my MLB picks tonight, looking to cash at a plus price.

Kendrick gave up six runs in last month’s outing against New York, but was left in with a sizable Phillies lead. Philadelphia is 4-1 in Kendrick’s last five road starts as an underdog between plus 110 and 150, while going 12-5 in the hurler’s last 17 outings against National League East foes.

Niese has failed to notch a winning decision in his last nine home starts, with New York logging a 2-7 mark over that span. The Mets have not had octane on their side, notching just 1.2 RPG over their last five contests – while hitting just .223 against righties at home this year.

Philadelphia’s Michael Young has a homer in a solid 3-for-5 career mark facing Niese, while coming off a 2-for-4 night in Monday’s opener. Look for Young and Co. to collect again here, adding to the team’s 5-2 mark in their last seven road matchups with the Mets.
