Monday’s MLB betting has Terry Francona’s club continuing its journey against the Texas Rangers, who send right-hander Josh Lindblom (0-1, 7.71 ERA) to face Indians lefty Scott Kazmir (3-3, 5.24 ERA). Let's look at the current MLB odds for this game for a better picks assessment.
Indians, Rangers both struggling
Cleveland has been held to 3.5 RPG in its road losing streak, while the OVER cashed at 4-2 thanks to giving up four or more runs each time out. The Indians have not visited Texas since this past September, logging a 1-2 mark in the set’s three affairs.
Texas returns home after going 2-4 in six contests up north, including a 17-5 defeat to the Boston Red Sox. Ron Washington’s squad ended a three-game losing skid with Sunday’s 6-4 triumph against the Toronto Blue Jays, erasing an early 4-0 deficit en route to cashing as a 126 underdog.
Lindblom shelled in Rangers debut
Lindblom’s sole start for Texas came May 20 in a 9-2 defeat for the Rangers as 134 home ‘chalk’ against the Oakland Athletics. The 25-year-old was called up from the Triple-A’s Round Rock Express, giving up four runs over 4 2/3 frames.
Two starts for Round Rock since then saw the Indiana native notch a pair of victories on May 27 and June 2, allowing three earned runs over the span’s 14 innings. The stingy affairs brought Linblom’s mark to 6-0 in this season’s 10 outings with the team, dropping to a 2.04 ERA.
Kazmir falls short in New York
Kazmir logged his first loss in four starts with Tuesday’s 4-3 defeat for Cleveland to the New York Yankees, failing to collect as a 126 road dog. The ninth-year hurler lasted six innings, allowing all four of New York’s runs on seven hits.
Indians outfielder Drew Stubbs drilled a late three-run homer, notching a 2-for-3 night. Cleveland’s Michael Bourn and Nick Swisher were held to a combined 0-for-8, each leaving three men on base.
Back the Indians as road dogs
Ladbrokes opened Lindblom as a 145 home favorite, while first setting the ‘total’ at 10 ½ (UNDER minus 115). The weather forecast in Arlington calls for a 90-degree night, with 11 mph winds blowing right to left.
I am adding a ticket on Kazmir and Cleveland for Monday’s sports picks, looking for Francona’s crew to end its slide in this spot.
Kazmir has done some settling down, holding foes to a combined eight earned runs over his last three road starts in American League ballparks (16 IP). The veteran has not visited Arlington since a respectable outing in 2010, allowing two runs over 5 1/3 frames in a no-decision.
Lindblom did not last long in his last stint of being called up and could see another early exit here, despite his promising outings for Round Rock. Cleveland’s Michael Bourn has a 2-for-2 career mark against Lindblom, including one double, while coming into the series hitting a warm 10-for-30 over his last seven contests.
Texas has not stayed hot as of late, logging a 1-4 mark in its last five spots that followed a victory. Look for the Indians to have a few early chances here, holding on for a triumph at plus MLB odds.
