Nationals right-hander Jordan Zimmermann is slated to square off with Diamondbacks southpaw Wade Miley (4-6, 4.70 ERA). Who should you back for your MLB betting picks?

Nationals, LaRoche hold on
Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche cracked a three-run homer in Tuesday’s victory, giving his club an early 5-0 lead. Washington’s Jayson Werth and Steve Lombardozzi united to hit 3-for-3, while Nationals closer Rafael Soriano logged his 20th save.
Arizona’s Martin Prado and Paul Goldschmidt notched a combined 5-for-9 night, with Prado drilling his sixth long ball of the year. The Diamondbacks edged Washington in hits, 14-11, while the contest’s 12 runs jumped OVER the ‘total’ of 7.5.
Zimmermann goes eight for win
Zimmermann cashed as 168 home ‘chalk’ in Thursday’s 5-1 victory for Washington over the Colorado Rockies. The 27-year-old lasted eight innings, allowing one run on six hits.
Nationals mates Denard Span and Anthony Rendon hit 4-for-7 from the lineup’s top two spots, while Zimmernann helped his own cause with one RBI. Washington finished with 11 hits, including a homer from shortstop Ian Desmond.
Miley leaves early in slugfest
Miley came away with a no-decision in Friday’s 11-5 triumph for Arizona as a 104 home dog against the Cincinnati Reds. The Louisiana allowed three runs over 4 2/3 innings, giving up five hits and four walks.
Diamondbacks reliever Will Harris logged his staff’s win, completing the fifth frame with a strikeout. Arizona’s Jason Kubel and Didi Gregorius hit a combined 7-for-9, including one double each.
Back Arizona as a road dog
MLB odds opened Zimmermann as a 150 home favorite, while the ‘total’ was first listed at seven (OVER minus 125). The weather forecast in Washington calls for 87 degrees, with a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms.
I am adding a ticket on Arizona and Miley to Wednesday’s sports picks, looking for Kirk Gibson’s club to even this series.
Miley has tossed his share of tight ball in recent road spots, holding foes to seven earned runs over his last three outings (18 2/3 IP). The 2012 All-Star faces a Nationals club that has hit just .210 against left-handed pitching, while holding the trio of Adam LaRoche, Ian Desmond and Jayson Werth to a combined 2-for-10 mark in prior battles.
Zimmermann has logged losses in his two home starts against Arizona, with the Diamondbacks again bringing some capable bats to drive in runs. Arizona’s Martin Prado is 6-for-11 facing Zimmermann, including two doubles, while Paul Goldschmidt is 2-for-3 and comes in hot with an 8-for-17 mark over his last four games.
Arizona has cashed at 4-1 in its last five matchups against righty starters, while going 12-3 in its last 15 duels against starters with WHIP’s less than 1.15. The Diamondbacks have gotten the money at a 12-5 clip over their last 17 spots that came after allowing five or more runs and look to cash again here at a plus price.
