Free MLB picks for the series ending matchup between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Where do we believe that the best baseball betting value lies in this National League West matchup?

The Los Angeles Dodgers rallied past the Arizona Diamondbacks with Tuesday’s 5-3 victory, cashing as 123 home favorites in 11 innings. Wednesday’s finale has Los Angeles going for a sweep, sending Hyun-Jin Ryu (13-5, 3.02 ERA) against Arizona’s Patrick Corbin (13-6, 2.97 ERA) in a duel of lefties.

Check out our Wednesday Morning MLB Odds & Betting Lines Report.

Van Slyke homers for win

Dodgers outfielder Scott Van Slyke delivered a pinch-hit homer in Tuesday’s triumph, while Yasiel Puig and Andre Ethier drove in one run each. Los Angeles’ Adrian Gonzalez hit 3-for-4 from the cleanup spot, giving the Dodgers a trio of their seven hits.

Arizona’s Willie Bloomquist and Adam Eaton both went 0-for-5 from their lineup’s top two spots, while Miguel Montero and Didi Gregorius each logged one error. Diamondbacks reliever Josh Collmenter came away with his staff’s loss, while the contest’s eight runs jumped OVER the MLB odds ‘total’ of 7 ½.

Ryu stingy as home ‘chalk’

Ryu has been idle since August 30, notching his sixth win in eight starts with Los Angeles’ 9-2 victory over the San Diego Padres. The 26-year-old held San Diego to one run over 6 1/3 innings, while allowing eight hits.

Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis cracked one of his side’s three homers, while slugger Hanley Ramirez logged a pair of RBIs in a 2-for-4 night. Ryu helped his own cause with his third double of the year, with Los Angeles edging the Padres in hits, 13-11.

Corbin slides in San Francisco

Corbin picked up a third straight loss in Friday’s 3-0 setback for Arizona against the San Francisco Giants, failing to collect as a 127 road favorite. The New York native stood in for a full eight frames, allowing all three of San Francisco’s runs on eight hits.

Arizona’s Aaron Hill struck out twice in a 0-for-3 outing, with the Diamondbacks held to one hit. Hill’s mate Chris Owings logged his club’s sole error, while the tight duel plunged UNDER the ‘total’ of seven.

Back Arizona as a road dog

Bet365 opened Ryu as a 137 home favorite, with early sports betting on Arizona dropping the premium to minus 125. The ‘total’ was first posted at seven, leaning with minus 115 to the UNDER.

I am adding Corbin and the D-backs to Wednesday’s MLB picks, looking for Kirk Gibson’s club to avoid a sweep here.

Arizona has cashed at 4-1 over Corbin’s five starts as an underdog, including a stellar outing last month in Cincinnati. The 2013 All-Star tossed 10 strikeouts over nine frames of action, with the Diamondbacks prevailing in a 5-2 victory at plus 123 MLB odds.

Ryu faces a long layoff here and was shelled for five early runs in July’s most recent start against Arizona’s lineup. Diamondbacks mates Paul Goldschmidt and Martin Prado have hit a combined 7-for-15 facing Ryu, while Aaron Hill has a homer as part of a 2-for-2 mark.

Arizona is 11-1 in Corbin’s last 12 outings against clubs with winning records, while Los Angeles has logged a 1-4 mark in its last five matchups facing southpaw starters. Look for the Diamondbacks to cash at a plus price here, holding on to end the series with a tight win.
