Detroit will again be without the services of Miguel Cabrera, as they take on the White Sox.

Head over to our Daily MLB Betting Lines & Odds Report for Thursday's baseball game breakdown!

Let’s take a closer look at the MLB betting odds for this American League Central matchup at U.S. Cellular Field, with the first pitch scheduled for 2:10 p.m. ET.

Leading the division

Detroit holds a 3.5-game lead over the Cleveland Indians in the AL Central standings, as it looks to complete its first four-game sweep of the White Sox in Chicago since 1980.

The Tigers are 11-8 as road favorites of -125 to -150 this season, with the 'Over' going 10-8-1 in that situation.

Falling like a rock

Chicago is a season-high 16 games behind the Tigers in the division, while it has fallen 20 games under .500 for the first time since 2007.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the White Sox are 3-6 as home underdogs of +125 to +150, with the 'Over' going 6-2-1 in those nine opportunities.

Don't miss today's Daily Pitching Report for a breakdown of the day's pitching picks.

Tigers starting pitcher Justin Verlander (10-7, 3.69 ERA) has alternated wins and losses over his last four starts, as he looks to bounce back from a 6-5 setback on the road to the Kansas City Royals.

The right-hander is 14-11 with a 4.02 ERA in 28 career games versus the White Sox, including an 11-4 home defeat on July 9.

Verlander has compiled a solid 6-2 record and 2.12 ERA in 11 daytime outings, surrendering just three home runs in 72.1 combined frames (5.61 ERA at night).

White Sox starting pitcher Jake Peavy (7-4, 4.19 ERA) earned a 10-6 home victory over the Atlanta Braves in his first start since June 4 last time out, as he allowed four runs (two earned) and seven hits over six frames.

The right-hander is 4-0 with a 2.08 ERA in five home appearances, issuing seven walks and striking out 29 batters in 34.2 combined innings.

In 11 lifetime appearances versus the Tigers, Peavy has gone 3-5 with a 4.80 ERA, including a 0-3 mark and 7.13 ERA in his last three starts.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Tigers as one of their MLB picks, as the White Sox are 0-7 in Peavy’s last seven starts as an underdog of +110 to +150.
