Find out why we believe that the total holds the best value for our MLB picks in tonight's matchup between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Houston Astros.

The Houston Astros notched a 10-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in Tuesday’s opener between the foes, collecting as 103 home dogs. Wednesday’s rematch has Brewers right-hander Kyle Lohse (2-6, 3.84 ERA) facing Astros lefty Erik Bedard (2-3, 4.82 ERA), with Milwaukee again listed as road ‘chalk.’

Check out our Wednesday Morning MLB Odds & Betting Lines Report.

Astros, Dominguez blast Brewers

Astros mates Matt Dominguez and Carlos Pena both homered in Tuesday’s victory, uniting for eight RBIs. Houston’s Brandon Barnes and Jose Altuve were held to a combined 0-for-9 from their lineup’s top two spots, while both squads finished with eight hits.

Brewers second baseman Scooter Gennet logged his club’s sole RBI, while mate Juan Francisco poked a triple as part of a 3-for-4 night. Milwaukee’s Yuniesky Betancourt logged two of the team’s three errors, with the lopsided affair’s 11 runs soaring OVER the ‘total’ of eight.

Lohse goes six in Cincy

Lohse came away with a no-decision in Friday’s 4-3 defeat for Milwaukee to the Cincinnati Reds, failing to collect as a 132 road dog. The 34-year-old held the Reds to one earned run over six innings, giving up five hits.

Brewers reliever Burke Badenhop logged his staff’s loss, giving up a walkoff homer to Reds slugger Jay Bruce in the 10th frame. Milwaukee’s Logan Schafer hit 3-for-5, while mate Martin Maldonado notched two RBIs.

Bedard stingy in latest win

Bedard picked up his second win in three starts as part of the same night’s action, cashing as a 174 home dog in Houston’s 2-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox. The Ontario native allowed no earned runs on three hits, lasting six innings.

Astros relievers Jose Cisnero and Travis Blackley both logged holds, while closer Jose Veras notched his 12th save. Houston’s Jose Altuve drove in his side’s go-ahead run in the fifth frame, finishing 2-for-4.

Back the OVER in Houston

MLB odds first opened Lohse as a 133 road favorite at Bet365, with early ‘steam’ on Houston driving the MLB odds down to minus 123. The ‘total’ was first set at 8 ½, with OVER wagers adding a minus 105 tag to its side.

I am adding the OVER to my MLB picks here, looking for octane from both teams here.

Milwaukee should have its share of chances, with the OVER going 6-0 in the team’s last six spots against southpaw starters. Bedard has allowed a 1.24 WHIP and .310 OBP in 26 2/3 IP at home for Houston, while facing a Brewers lineup that has hit .271 against left-handed pitching on the road.

Houston has notched 5 RPG over its last seven home dates, while having some bats that have done damage facing Lohse. Carlos Pena has logged four extra-base hits in 38 trips against the righty, while coming in warm after his homer on Tuesday. Jose Altuve has drilled a long ball as part of his 3-for-9 career mark, while Ronny Cedeno and Matt Dominguez have united to bat 9-for-24.

The OVER is 9-4 in Milwaukee’s last 13 games that followed a defeat, while going 5-1 in the team’s most recent six interleague spots against clubs with losing records. Look for OVER backers to get the money again here.
