The Atlanta Braves are running away in the division standings, as they continue a three-game series against the Washington Nationals Tuesday night.

Let’s take a closer look at the MLB betting odds for this National League East matchup at Nationals Park, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.

Read today's Daily Pitching Report for a breakdown of the day's pitching picks.

Atlanta notched its season-best 11th consecutive win last night, as it picked up a 3-2 victory over Washington as +113 road underdogs, while going ‘Under’ the betting total for a third consecutive contest.

The Braves are 8-5 as road underdogs of +100 to +125 this season, with the ‘Over’ cashing in eight of those opportunities.

Losing hope

Washington sits 13.5 games back of Atlanta in the division, while it has dropped eight of its nine games versus teams with a winning record during the second half of the 2013 MLB campaign.

The Nationals are 12-9 as home favorites of -125 to -150 this season, with the ‘Over’ going 12-8-1 in that situation.

Braves starting pitcher Julio Teheran (8-5, 3.02 ERA) has led the club to three consecutive victories, including a 11-2 home win over the Colorado Rockies last time out, as he allowed a single run and five hits over five frames.

The right-hander is 3-3 with a 3.41 ERA in 10 road games, surrendering nine home runs in 63.1 combined frames.

In three career outings versus the Nationals, Teheran has compiled a 0-1 record and 4.50 ERA, including a 3-2 setback at home on May 31.

Nationals starting pitcher Gio Gonzalez (7-4, 3.57 ERA) will look to bounce back from a 11-1 road defeat to the Detroit Tigers last time out, as he allowed 10 runs and 11 hits over 3.1 frames.

The left-hander is 4-2 with a 3.07 ERA in 11 home games this season, with opposing hitters batting .232 against him.

In seven lifetime efforts versus the Braves, Gonzalez has posted a 2-4 record and 5.73 ERA, including a 0-2 mark and 7.31 ERA in three appearances this season.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Braves in their MLB picks, as they’ve won 12 of their last 15 games against the Nationals.
