Mike Trout has caught absolute fire at the plate, which will play a major part in a high-scoring affair between the Los Angeles Angels and Cleveland Indians Wednesday night. Let’s take a closer look at the MLB betting odds for this American League matchup.

Gone fishing
Los Angeles is 4.5 games back in the AL West standings behind the Oakland Athletics, but it has the opportunity to regain the top spot before the All-Star break, especially with Mike Trout’s recent play at the plate.

Trout is hitting .396 with eight home runs and 26 RBIs over his last 24 games played, while he’s driven in 14 runs in his last 13 meetings against the Tribe.

MLB handicappers will find that the club is 8-2 on theoad with a betting total of 8 to 8.5, with the OVER going 7-3 in that situation.

Taking care of business at home
Cleveland had its 10-game home winning streak snapped Tuesday night, as it suffered a 9-3 setback to Los Angeles as -124 favorites, while going OVER the betting total of 9.5.

The Indians need outfielder Michael Brantley to return to the field in hopes of putting together another streak, but he is currently listed as questionable with a head injury on the most recent injury reports.  He’s batting .536 during a current eight-game hitting streak.

It’s important to point out that the franchise is 10-6 in June, with no clear edge in terms of the number (8-8 Over/Under).

Angels starting pitcher C.J. Wilson (7-6, 3.50 ERA) has fallen in defeat in three of his last four efforts, including a 4-3 road loss to the Atlanta Braves last time out—surrendering four runs and six hits over six frames.

The left-hander is 2-5 with a 4.79 ERA in seven road games, as he’s served up eight home runs in 41.1 combined innings.

Wilson has compiled a 4-2 record and 2.50 ERA in eight career games versus the Indians as a starter.

Indians starting pitcher Justin Masterson (4-5, 5.05 ERA) suffered a 10-3 road loss to the Boston Red Sox last Friday, as he allowed five runs and three hits over two innings of work.

The right-hander is 3-1 with a 3.92 ERA in seven home appearances, with opposing hitters batting .250 against him.

In 13 career outings (10 starts) versus the Halos, Masterson has compiled a 4-1 record and 2.84 ERA.

I’m going to recommend that readers play the total as one of their MLB picks, as the OVER is 6-2 in the Indians last eight games as home underdogs.
Pick:  Over 8.5
