After losing two straight you can look for the Toronto Blue Jays to come in and fight like crazy to not lose game three in the American League championship series.

MLB odds
MLB odds makers have set this total at eight, and it hasn't moved much across the board. For my MLB pick of the day I'm going to back over the total of eight in this matchup. There are still some pretty good odds out there at that number like at 5Dimes & Pinnacle where you can take the over at +110.

Kansas City Royals
Johnny Cueto takes the mound for the Royals and comes in with a 3.44 ERA, 1.13 whip, 176 strikeouts, and in 11-13 record on the season. In his last game in the playoffs he was outstanding allowing two earned runs off of two hits in eight innings with eight strikeouts. That was a far cry from his first appearance where he allowed four earned runs off a seven hits in six innings. Overall for the playoffs that puts him at a 3.86 ERA with a 0.86 whip. On the road this season though he has had his struggles with a 3.80 ERA and batters hitting .257 against him. Also, Toronto has seen him once this season and produced seven hits off him in six innings with three earned runs. I simply don't see him shutting down a Toronto team that is due to break out.

At the plate Kansas City hits .268 as a team, averages 4.50 runs per game, and have and OPS of .734. Their one of the better offensive teams in major league baseball and they rank number one in the least amount of strikeouts per game. Although I expect Toronto to break out tonight, I also anticipate Kansas City to put up a few at least.

Toronto Blue Jays
Marcus Stroman gets the start for Toronto and comes in with a 1.67 ERA, 0.96 whip, 18 strikeouts, and a 4-0 record on the season. Against Texas in the postseason he pitched well allowing a total of five earned runs in 13 innings for 3.46 ERA and 1.08 whip. He has not faced Kansas City since last year where in one appearance he pitched well allowing just one earned run in six innings. The way Kansas City is swinging the bat though I like for them to either get a couple off Stroman or later in the game off the thin relief pitching of Toronto.

Toronto hits .267 as a team, average 5.44 runs per game, and have and OPS of .791. Throughout the season they have been the best hitting team in baseball without question. Although they have struggled at the plate the last two games I don't expect that to continue tonight, because honestly they're simply too good. Cueto has had his struggles this year, especially on the road. I expect the Toronto hitters to have a lot of good quality at-bats and produce runs early and often.

With both pitchers coming off sterling performances in their last time on the mound allowing two earned runs apiece it seems like this total is a little bit high. I'm anticipating though for both these teams to work to pitch count and simply have a lot of good quality at-bats. For one of your MLB picks I recommend backing over the total and expect some serious lumber to be swung in Toronto.
