Colorado Rockies (37-33) at Toronto Blue Jays (0-2, 5.40)
It’s basically the new sensation in baseball as Carlos Gonzalez is the hottest hitter in the majors and makes superior contact with the baseball everytime he steps up to the plate. I’ve actually witnessed it from MLB TV; the announcer no longer call Carlos Gonzalez by his given name, they call him Cargo at all times and “Cargo” delivers “the goods”.
Colorado defeated Philadelphia 5-2 on Sunday in which Cargo delivered his 20th home run of the season. This isn’t a beefy 250 pounder, he is a slim athlete with a perfect swing that’s made for hitting balls out of the park.
In the 3 game series against Philly, Cargo went 8 for 12 with 2 HR, 4 RBI, and 5 runs scored. He’s a career 0 for 5 against Blue Jays starter Josh Johnson (0-2, 5.40), but Johnson is a shell of the pitcher that he was when he pitched for the Marlins.
With superstar Troy Tulowitzki on the disabled list, the Rockies have plenty of offense in the form of Michael Cuddyer (10 HR, 38 RBI, .340) and catcher Willin Rosario (11 HR and 35 RBI).
The Rockies also have a very capable starter in Jorge De La Rosa (7-4, 3.49). This team is starting to take off and although the Jays have the duo of Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Bautista, they could have trouble in this game.

Baltimore Orioles (40-30) at Detroit Tigers (38-29)
Extreme Depth and Talent
The Orioles have climbed up to 2nd place in the American League East Division and contain a tremendous amount of offense and major depth starring superstar Chris Davis. Davis is hitting .335 on the season with 23 HR and 60 RBI. He’s the type of player that you expect to get a hit everytime that he steps up to the plate.
Another player that’s often overlooked on the Orioles roster is 3rd baseman and 20 year old Manny Machado. Machado is on pace to set a record in the majors for doubles as he’s “The King of 2B”. On the season, Machado has 32 doubles and we still have two weeks left until the beginning of July.
Staring this Orioles locomotive in the face at Comerica Park will be undefeated starter, Max Scherzer ( 9-0, 3.19).
I don’t think that Scherzer is the best pitcher in baseball, because he receives a lot of run support a la Fielder and Cabrera, but he seizes the moment.
In his last 5 starts, Scherzer has pitched 36 innings and has allowed just 15 hits to go along with 8 runs. 15 hits in 5 starts are super-impressive! Pitching wins games and if Scherzer continues to pitch like this, Detroit will have the easy edge in this game.
I don’t like the moneyline odds of Detroit -185; too much juice to lie against a great Baltimore offense, but the total of 8.5 runs is appealing with Scherzer on the mound. Take the OVER for you MLB Pick.
Good Luck, everyone!
