The focus will be on the NFL, but maybe that means there will be some weaker spots in the MLB betting slate.

Yankees (Nova) vs. Red Sox (Buchholz)

Covered by Ron Patrick

Not a bad return from Clay Buchholz, right? He tossed five innings of shutout ball against Tampa Bay, allowing only three hits while striking out six and walking one.

Let's see how the right-hander does against the Yankees, who he's dominated this season. In two starts, he's surrendered eight hits and one single run, winning both decisions in the process.

New York, however, could keep things interesting with Ivan Nova pitching, as he's been very solid throughout the season. On the year he's 8-4 with a 3.17 ERA and 1.28 WHIP.

This Sunday night matinee will be one you don't want to miss, with the MLB odds showing the Red Sox at anywhere from -165 to -175 on the MLB odds boards. The Yankees are available for backing at +150 to +160.

Athletics (Parker) vs. Rangers (Perez)

Covered by Willie Bee

One of many reasons the Athletics continue to win day after day has been the level of Jarrod Parker over the last six weeks or so.

Parker has allowed three or fewer earned runs in eight straight starts, with his ERA dropping from 4.07 to 3.55. You'd have to go all the way back to May 22 to find the last time Parker was handed a losing decision. Quite the staggering feat there.

Oakland has now won four straight games to surge into a 5.5-game lead over Texas, who will send out lefty Martin Perez. Perez is 2-2 with a 2.87 ERA at home this season and held the Athletics to one run over seven innings in his sole appearance against them.

We're excited to see where Willie decides to go with his MLB picks. The lines are close, with the Rangers at -110 and the Athletics at +100. The total has opened at an even nine runs.

Giants (Vogelsong) vs. Dodgers (Volquez)

Covered by Willie Bee

Everything was looking up for Ryan Vogelsong when he returned from the DL back in early August, but he's quickly reverted back to his pre-injury form. Over his last three starts, he's allowed 25 hits and 12 earned runs in a total of 15 and 2/3 innings.

In his sole appearance against L.A. in 2013, Vogelsong was torched for nine hits and seven runs in 4 and 2/3 innings. This current collection of Dodgers hitters is batting a career .278 against him.

The Giants are coming off a ridiculous 19-3 win over the Dodgers and maybe they can carry that momentum over against Edinson Volquez. The righty has a 5.99 ERA and 1.62 WHIP on the year, but did look pretty solid (6.0 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K) against Arizona in his latest start.

Check out the odds listed by the top sportsbooks and you'll see the Dodgers are still firm favorites at -140. San Francisco is +135 to close out the series with another win.
