We have some high temperatures in early April and could see the baseball leave the ball park often. Let’s see if we can leave this article with 2 wins for our MLB Picks of the Day.

Baltimore Orioles at Boston Red Sox

Ever since their season opening series with the Yankees, the Red Sox have gotten off to a splendid start. In the 1st four games  it was their hitting. They batted .335, averaging 8.5 runs with 8 home runs and 11 doubles.

In their last game, they didn’t need the offense as Clay Buchholz provided his 2nd consecutive dazzling outing this season. This is a team that’s seen Will Middlebrooks crush 3 home runs in a game. The Sox look strong early.

Tonight, will be more of a test as the Red Sox send out Ryan Dempster to the mound. This is a pitcher that can be effective at times and at other times provide an embarrassing performance.

In his first start of the season, he was unsuccessful as he went 5 innings and the Yankees handed him a loss. Dempster did strike out 8 batters, but it wasn’t enough.

Although he’s a career .500 pitcher, Dempster can deliver some nasty stuff and with the Bosox bats supporting him, look for him to have a good outing against the O’s.

The Orioles can’t feel too confident about Jake Arrieta taking the mound facing Boston. Arrieta was 3-9 with a 6.20 ERA last season and he’s picking up where he left off for this season. Arrieta was defeated by the Twins in his first outing of the season pretty soundly.

For Baltimore to win this game, the offense will need to be effective against Ryan Dempster.

Cooling Off?

When a player has 4 HR, 17 RBI and is batting .417 in just 7 games, you would think that they’re on fire. For Chris Davis, he’s gone cold. Davis got off to an amazing start to the season, but is just 1 for his last 9.

Adam Jones has been there to pick up the slack. Jones has picked up a hit in every game this season while batting .500. He’s also a career 2 for 3 against Dempster. Look for Jones to play well against average pitching at best.

I’m going to have to side with Boston here. They’re at home and have been a confident bunch thus far. Lay the juice.

Atlanta Braves at Miami Marlins

Who needs Chipper Jones? The Atlanta Braves have once again gotten off to a quick start and appear to be a formidable foe for the other teams in the National League East Division. The Braves are 7-1 and face a Miami team that appears to be the worst team in baseball.

The only positive for Miami is that Alex Sanabia is starting for them and he’s the only pitcher on the staff with a win this season. Sanabia pitched 6 innings of scoreless ball to knock off the New York Mets on April 5th.

For the Braves, Mike Minor has been a .500 pitcher for them the past couple of years, but was a major problem for the Cubs as he allowed just 1 run in 7 1/3 innings to defeat the Chicago on April 5th.

Early MVP Candidate?

Justin Upton has been the lone star for the Braves offense thus far. He’s collected hits in 7 out of 8 games while hitting .400 with 6 HR and 9 RBI this season. The Braves pitching has been outstanding and we’ve seen a lot of low scores like yesterday;  Justin Upton is the straw that stirs the drink for Atlanta.

Key note: A lot was expected out of Jason Heyward, but he’s been flat. Heyward is hitting just .083 thus far and the Braves need that to turn around if they expect to keep winning.

Pick- Atlanta -161 at 5 Dimes (It’s a lot of juice to lay on the road, but Miami is a disaster!)
