Wednesday’s MLB betting has Detroit’s Doug Fister looking to stop his club’s skid against Oakland’s Daniel Straily. Who will take the win tonight?

For a breakdown of today's games, check out Wednesday's Baseball Betting Odds & Lines Report!

The Oakland Athletics cashed a second straight ticket over the Detroit Tigers in Tuesday’s 6-3 victory, collecting as 149 road dogs in a rain-shortened six frames.

A’s, Moss surge past Tigers

Athletics outfielder Brandon Moss broke open a 3-3 tie in Tuesday’s fifth inning, cracking a two-run homer for his club’s go-ahead strike. Oakland’s Tom Milone tossed a full five frames on the hill, holding Detroit’s lineup to three hits.

Tigers first baseman Prince Fielder drove in mates Austin Jackson and Torii Hunter with an early single, finishing 1-for-1. Detroit’s Omar Infante and Matt Tuiasosopo were held to 0-for-2 nights, leaving three men on base.

Fister wins in New York

Fister (11-6, 3.54 ERA) notched his fifth win in eight starts with Friday’s 6-1 victory for Detroit as a 175 road favorite over the New York Mets. The 29-year-old allowed one run on eight hits, standing in for 6 1/3 innings.

Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera cracked one of his squad’s three homers, while mates Victor Martinez and Don Kelly went a combined 0-for-7. Both clubs escaped without logging errors, while the lopsided affair’s seven runs ducked ‘Under’ the ‘total’ of eight.

Straily lit up by O’s

Straily (6-7, 4.56 ERA) picked up a no-decision on the same night of action, with Oakland losing to the Baltimore Orioles, 9-7. The second-year hurler was shelled for six runs in 3 1/3 innings, failing to cash as a 109 road dog.

Athletics reliever Ryan Cook logged a blown save en route to his staff’s loss, giving up Baltimore’s final two runs. Oakland’s Coco Crisp homered from his lineup’s leadoff spot, finishing with a 4-for-5 night.

Back the ‘Over’ in Detroit

Early MLB betting odds opened Fister as a 170 home favorite, while first setting the ‘total’ at nine (‘Under’ minus 115). The weather forecast calls for 80 degrees, with calm winds and a 20-percent chance of rain.

I am adding the ‘Over’ in this matchup to Wednesday’s sports picks, looking for the octane to stay high between these foes.

Fister has seen the ‘Over’ cash at 3-1 in his last four starts, allowing 10 hits in last week’s most recent home affair against the Kansas City Royals. Oakland’s bats have picked up on the road, hitting .261 against righties, while driving in 6 RPG over the team’s last 10 spots away from home.

Straily has given up a sizable 1.30 WHIP and .313 OBP in opposing stadiums, with the ‘Over’ cashing at 7-5 through the span’s 12 starts. Detroit’s Torii Hunter has two homers in a 4-for-7 career mark against Straily’s arm, while the Tigers have hit .302 at home facing right-handers.

Umpire Jerry Meals is slated behind home plate, with the ‘Over’ collecting at a 2-1-1 clip in the 51-year-old’s last four called affairs. The stretch included a 9-3 road win for Detroit over the New York Yankees on Aug. 10, sailing north of the 8.5-run ‘total.’

The ‘Over’ is 7-1 in Oakland’s last eight road dates facing a righty starter, while going 8-1-1 in Detroit’s most recent 10 spots with a ‘total’ set between nine and 10.5. For your MLB picks, look for the ‘Over’ to get the money again here, adding to a blazing 12-3-1 mark for the wager in the foes’ last 16 meetings at Comerica Park.
