Brewers' Chase Anderson has faced Los Angeles several times over the past three seasons when he pitched for Arizona. Is there value in backing him on the MLB Odds today?

The MLB Odds have made Milwaukee a +125 underdog like at Bookmaker -110. This makes sense looking at the records but this is decent value to take on a good starting pitcher for Milwaukee. For my MLB Pick today I will take the underdog Brewers.

Milwaukee Brewers
Chase Anderson gets the start for Milwaukee and comes in with a 4.42 ERA and 1.19 whip with Milwaukee hitting .245 as a team. Offensively there is not a lot to brag about with Milwaukee as they rank in the bottom third of the league in most offensive categories. However, they do have a solid .325 on base percentage which ranks 11th in the major leagues as they rank second in walks per game.

Today they get the face a pitcher who has struggled and consistently gives up home runs so they should be able to manufacture more than a few. Anderson is much better than his ERA would indicate and has pitched well against Los Angeles over the last few seasons. Against the Dodgers he has a 3.51 ERA over six starts allowing just 13 earned runs in 33 innings.

More impressively is the fact that Los Angeles is hitting just .202 against him in that same time span. He might not be lights out but he has pitched well against Los Angeles in the past which puts good value on taking him in Milwaukee on the plus money line.

Los Angeles Dodgers
Mike Bolsinger takes the mound for the Dodgers and comes in with a 5.76 ERA and 1.24 whip with the Dodgers hitting just .232 as a team which ranks second to last in major league baseball. Offensively there is not a lot to like about Los Angeles this season and they rank as one of the bottom three teams in all of baseball in OPS, batting average, hits per game, and total bases.

Bolsinger has been less than stellar this season and has been consistent in giving up the long ball allowing at least one home run in every start so far. In his last two starts he has given up nine earned runs in just 10 innings and although Milwaukee is not an offensive juggernaut, as mentioned, them I expect them to be able to score today.

The Dodgers do have one of the better bullpens in the National League but as we break this game down the value really is backing the better starting pitcher in this spot. This game could go either way.
