The Boston Red Sox land in a must-win situation Sunday, as they face off against the Detroit Tigers at Fenway Park. Let's have a look at the MLB odds for our ALCS baseball picks in game 2.

Let’s take a closer look at the MLB betting odds for Game 2 of the 2013 ALCS, with the first pitch scheduled for 8:07 p.m. ET on FOX.

Mission accomplished

Detroit accomplished its mission of stealing home field advantage in this series, as it picked up a 1-0 victory over Boston as +126 road underdogs last night, while going UNDER the betting total of 7.5.

The Tigers have now won their last five LCS games, while the UNDER is on a 5-0 run for this club during the postseason.

A must-win situation

MLB handicappers certainly realize that the Red Sox land in a must-win situation tonight, but it’s important to point out that the franchise is just 13-14 all-time in 27 ALCS games at Fenway Park.

Boston compiled a 53-28 record at home during the regular season, outscoring opponents by a 419-320 margin on Yawkey Way.

Tigers starting pitcher Max Scherzer has earned a win in both of his postseason appearances (one start) in 2013, as he’s allowed three runs and six hits over nine combined frames.

The right-hander went 9-2 with a 2.28 ERA in 16 road outings during the regular season, with opposing hitters batting .177 against him.

In eight lifetime efforts versus the Red Sox, Scherzer has tallied a 2-4 record and 7.02 ERA.

Red Sox starting pitcher Clay Buchholz didn’t earn a decision in a 5-4 road loss to the Tampa Bay Rays during ALDS play last Monday, as he surrendered three runs and seven hits over six innings of work.

The right-hander went 6-1 with a 1.99 ERA in nine home appearances—failing to allow a home run in 63.1 combined frames.

In eight career appearances versus the Tigers, Buchholz has put together a 2-1 record and 3.58 ERA.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Red Sox for their MLB picks today, as they’ve gone 16-5 in Buchholz’s last 21 starts as a home favorite of -110 to -150.
