The Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers have two of the more dynamic offenses in baseball, which could be the major storyline in this best-of-seven series.

Let’s take a closer look at the MLB betting odds for Game 1 of the 2013 ALCS at Fenway Park, with Saturday’s first pitch scheduled for 8:07 p.m. ET on FOX.

Detroit is set to make its third cross-country trip in a week, as it moved past the Oakland Athletics in five games in the Division Series round, with the offense scoring 11 runs in its last 13 innings of play.

The Tigers ranked behind only the Red Sox in runs scored during the MLB regular season, with the offense led by MVP candidate Miguel Cabrera, who has been fighting through numerous injuries of late.

MLB handicappers will find that the Tigers have won 41 of their last 60 series openers.

Resting up

Boston may benefit from having three days off leading up to this high-profile series, as it moved past the Tampa Bay Rays in four games in its Division Series.

The Red Sox have a clear edge on the base paths, as they racked up 123 stolen bases before the postseason, while the Tigers swiped just 35.

Designated hitter David Ortiz looms large under the bright lights—entering as the franchise’s all-time leader in home runs and RBIs in postseason play.

Sanchez

Tigers starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez (14-8, 2.57 ERA) suffered a 6-3 home loss to the Athletics Monday, as he allowed six runs (five earned) and eight hits over just 4.1 innings of work.

The right-hander went 6-5 with a 2.44 ERA in 15 road outings during the regular season, with opposing batters hitting .242 against him.

Sanchez will be making just his second career appearance versus the Red Sox.

Lester

Red Sox starting pitcher Jon Lester (15-8, 3.75 ERA) picked up a 12-2 home victory over the Rays in opening game of their previous series a week ago, as he surrendered two runs and three hits over 7.2 frames.

The left-hander tallied a 7-1 record and 3.09 ERA in 13 home outings during the 2013 campaign, issuing 22 walks and striking out 77 batters in 87.1 combined innings.

In seven career games versus the Tigers, Lester has tallied a 2-2 record and 4.63 ERA, including a 2-0 mark and 4.26 ERA in two efforts this season.
