At time of writing, games like Boston/Toronto, Washington/Chicago, St. Louis/Colorado, and San Francisco/Atlanta had already begun.
Want to get up-to-date with the lines and get a different perspective on the games set to start this evening? Read on below.
Phillies vs. Diamondbacks
This series has been dominated by great pitching displays and it wouldn't be shocking in the slightest if we saw something similar tonight.
Both Trevor Cahill and Cliff Lee can handle opponents when on their game, which has been more often than not. Cahill is 2-3 with a 2.80 ERA and Lee is 3-2 with a 3.26 ERA, with the pair already combining for nine quality starts.
After examining all of the different statistics and angles, Ron Patrick has opted to back Arizona with his MLB picks once again. He understands that Lee will most likely pitch well, but he's not comfortable with backing a Phillies team that's struggled immensely to score runs this season.
Yankees vs. Royals
Can Andy Pettitte bounce back after two straight shaky starts? He's done well against Kansas City throughout his lengthy career, but this year's version of the Royals is a little different.
With Kansas City hitting the ball well and James Shields, the Royals are favored at -150 on the MLB odds boards. You can side with New York at a price of +135. As for the total, it's at 7.5 runs, which actually seems relatively higher given how sound both pitchers can be.
As one of his two daily MLB picks of the day, Joe Catalano is backing the Bronx Bombers as underdogs. Kansas City is a feisty team, but not often do you see Pettitte at this kind of price.
Athletics vs. Mariners
The Mariners won easily last night, but oddsmakers aren't so sure they'll be getting it done against tonight. Seattle is actually priced out (+100) as the underdogs here.
Obviously, both Brandon Maurer and Jarrod Parker have been really struggling this season. Maurer is 2-4 with a 6.07 ERA and Parker has been even worse at 1-5 with a 7.34 ERA. Perhaps that explains why the OVER 7.5 runs is getting heavily juiced at the moment.
However, Joe Freda is instead recommending his readers to make a play on Oakland. Maurer has already been thumped by the Athletics once this season and he thinks Oakland's bats will wake up a little bit tonight after having a hard time last night.
Angels vs. White Sox
Don't look now but the Angels have actually won consecutive games. They're going for three in a row on the back of starter Jerome Williams, who will be making his second start of the season after starting out in the pen.
For the White Sox, Jose Quintana will take the bump. He's 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA and 1.26 WHIP on the season, but he hasn't logged more than five innings in any of his three most recent outings.
Willie Bee, along with his Red Sox/Blue Jays play, is liking a pick on the road team in this spot. Though he's not too sold on Williams as a reliable innings eater, he's biting the bullet and rolling with Los Angeles.
