Latest on the Lines for Friday
Braves vs. Giants
Though neither Matt Cain or Tim Hudson have been dominant this season, the total for tonight's game in San Francisco is at 6.5 runs. In the moneyline odds, the Giants are favored at -116.
With his MLB pick for this matchup, Jeff Grant has decided to make a play on the OVER. Both pitchers have struggled with umpire Tony Randazzo calling the balls and strikes, which could translate into more runs than normal here.
Rockies vs. Cardinals
With Shelby Miller on the mound, the Cardinals are heavily favored (around the -165 to -170 mark) for their home date with the Rockies tonight.
The O/U is at eight runs, with a lot of sportsbooks juicing the UNDER quite a bit. Joe Freda believes there's still value on the UNDER here, giving readers a number of reasons why in the process. Check out his free pick here.
Yankees vs. Royals
Wade Davis has had a couple very nice outings, but on the whole he's been disappointing since moving over from Tampa Bay. He'll try to get the best of a Yankees lineup that's still managing to put runs on the board without a number of key bats.
Ron Patrick is backing a New York win in this spot, as he really likes how Phil Hughes has been performing lately. We do too. He's recorded four consecutive quality starts coming into this appearance, which is why Joe Catalano is liking the Yankees as well as one of his picks of the day.
Phillies vs. Diamondbacks
A pitching duel last night saw Patrick Corbin win out over Cole Hamels in a 2-1 victory. The Diamondbacks cashed as small home favorites, while the UNDER obviously was an easy winner.
Despite winning four games in a row, Ron Patrick is on the opposite side of Arizona tonight. He believes the value is with Philadelphia, in spite of the fact they're throwing out Tyler Cloyd, who's been called up to take the place of Roy Halladay.
Blue Jays vs. Red Sox
When it comes to the MLB betting odds for today, this matchup is one of the biggest mismatches out there. The Red Sox are -205 favorites at a number of top online sportsbooks, with Toronto available for backing at +190.
Why such a high line? Well, the Blue Jays are rolling with Ramon Ortiz and the Red Sox have Jon Lester throwing, which obviously plays into Boston's favor in a major way. Nonetheless, Willie Bee actually likes the OVER 9 runs for tonight's ballgame at Fenway.
Angels vs. White Sox
The Angels have decided to give Barry Enright the start and he'll be in there instead of Tommy Hanson, who will miss the game because of a death in the family. The White Sox have Dylan Axelrod penciled in.
Considering L.A.'s starter wasn't known until the afternoon, Willie Bee couldn't make a definitive pick on this game, but his initial lean was to back the White Sox. We're sure he likes Chicago even more now that Enright (career ERA of 5.21) is in as the starter.
