It's time for our daily afternoon update on the what's going on with the baseball odds. Which MLB picks are our favorites for Thursday?

The early game pitted Cleveland up against Oakland, and it was the Indians that cruised to a 9-2 win at home. Scott Kazmir pitched well, while the Indians' bats were all over Bartolo Colon.

Also in action earlier on in the day will be Colorado/New York – Joe Freda picked the UNDER for that one – and Washington will be at home to Detroit as an underdog in the MLB odds.

Braves vs. Giants

For tonight, San Francisco is the small home favorite at -115 with Ryan Vogelsong pitching. Vogelsong has been struggling mightily to start the season, but he has done pretty well in limited appearances against the Braves throughout his career.A lot of new series begin today, and one that really stands out is this meeting between the Giatns and Braves.

Jeff Grant is staying away from a play on a side here though. He likes the OVER 7.5 runs instead, while letting readers know that the OVER is 9-1-1 in Vogelsong's previous 11 assignments as a home favorite.

Phillies vs. Diamondbacks

At the moment, the Diamondbacks are -116 favorites (Philadelphia's at +106), while the total is at eight runs. Much of the action, as you'd expect, is coming in on the UNDER (-125).

PJ Laferla has decided to go with the Phillies as underdogs here. He's looking past Philadelphia's overall record and focusing on the fact Cole Hamels (1-4, 4.34 ERA) has been excellent against Arizona over the years.

It's not like the Diamondbacks have some scrub on the mound. Patrick Corbin has been pitching lights out, and that's why Joe Catalano is going the other way and backing Arizona in his picks of the day article.

Twins vs. Red Sox

If you've been siding with the Twins so far in this series, you've been making quite a bit of profit. They've won each of the first two games of this series and just scored a whopping 15 runs in last night's victory.

This evening it's Kevin Correia and John Lackey as the two starters, and Swingin' Johnson has decided to swallow some heavy chalk and back the Red Sox at -149.

Obviously Boston is going to come out with extra verve tonight to avoid another embarrassing loss in front of the Fenway faithful. Lackey isn't exactly dominance personified, but he knows how to get outs and SJ is thinking he can do enough to keep the Red Sox on the winning side.

Angels vs. Astros

As painful as it must be to be a Houston fan, it's much worse for Angels supporters. L.A. had lofty expectations placed upon them before the season begun, but they currently have the second-worst record in the AL.

There's a ton of time left for the Angels to start making up some ground, and getting at least one win against the Astros would be a good place to start.

Jason Vargas will be on the mound for L.A. and Lucas Harrell is pitching for Houston. The Astros are currently +140 underdogs at home, while you can pick an Angels win for -155 at the top sportsbooks. Joe Freda, however, is making his play on the OVER 9 runs instead.
