With the offense, defense and pitching contributing, the Astros are favored on the MLB odds in Tuesday’s series opener at the Oakland Athletics.

Willie’s MLB season picks record: 11-14 (-3.35 units)

Houston (11-5 SU, 5-11 O/U) at Oakland (10-9 SU, 10-9 O/U)

Tuesday, 10:07 p.m. ET

Free MLB Pick: Astros RL

Recommended Sportsbook: Heritage

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3729334, "sportsbooksIds":[169,238,999996,1096,999991], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]

Will Monday’s off day interrupt the good vibes the Houston Astros have built in reeling off a 9-game win streak. Can the Oakland Athletics exact some quick revenge after being the first victims of that streak in Houston a little more than a week ago?

Those are two questions that will be answered Tuesday night in Oakland when the AL West rivals open a 3-game series. What we know heading into the contest is Collin McHugh (2-1, 2.65) is slated to toe the rubber for the Astros against Oakland’s Marco Estrada (0-1, 4.87), and the sportsbooks favor the visitors around -140 with an 8½-run total priced to the ‘under.’

‘Over’ Has Cashed In 3 Of Estrada’s 4 Starts

Houston began 3-city tour through the division by sweeping the previously red-hot Mariners in Seattle. The Astros let their bats do the talking in the opener, then relied on co-aces Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole in the final two games while carrying the chalk line in all three tilts. Jose Altuve has been en fuego and Alex Bregman returned to the lineup after a minor hamstring injury. McHugh has allowed just 10 hits while whiffing 22 in his first 17 innings, and beat the A’s in Houston 11 days ago (6 IP, 3 H, 1 R).

Oakland won four of six on their road trip after being broomed at Minute Maid, one of their weekend contests at Texas getting rained out. The offense has been behind 7-straight ‘over’ winners for A’s bettors, Khris Davis hammering 6 HR over a 5-game stretch and Marcus Semien batting .407 (11-27) last week against the Orioles and Rangers. Oakland has dropped all four of Estrada’s starts, only one of those a quality effort, and the Blue Jays dropped both of his assignments against the Astros last season.

‘Stros Seeking 5th-Straight In Rivalry With A’s

This rivalry has been a tale of two eras. The A’s won 20 of the first 25 meetings with Houston, that span stretching from playing as interleague foes to the Astros’ first year in the American League. It has been all Houston the last 3+ seasons, George Springer & Company doubling up the Athletics, 40-20. Two of the three games in Houston a couple of weeks ago failed to reach the totals, and those columns ran 5-3-1 O/U/P in Oakland last season when the Astros won seven of nine.

The 20,000 or so fans who show up at The Coliseum should be in for a breezy evening with 15-18 mph winds from the west (out to right) and temps in the upper-50s under partly cloudy skies. The Astros run-lined the A’s in all seven of their wins in Oakland last year, and that’s the way I’m going with my free MLB pick.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

Who's hotter??#TakeItBack ;/a>
— Houston Astros (@astros) April 14, 2019
\n\n"}[/]
