A nice evening in Baltimore is in the forecast, and we have a preview plus a free MLB pick as the Orioles continue their crucial series against Mookie Betts and the Red Sox.

It has been a good homestand so far for the Baltimore Orioles taking 4-of-5 from their biggest AL East rivals, and Saturday offers the opportunity to make it three in a row vs. the Boston Red Sox. They’ll have to pull off an upset to do it, however, with David Price and Boston chalked -125 at BetOnline where the total dipped to 8½ in overnight wagering.

The O’s popped four homers and got a solid effort from Wade Miley to post a 7-5 upset of the Red Sox as +110 underdogs on the MLB odds in the series opener on Thursday. Friday was all about pitching as Baltimore claimed a 3-2 victory. Even with the losses, the Red Sox still own a healthy 119-88 advantage at Camden Yards over the years though the Orioles are 4-1 this season, totals running 1-3-1 O/U/P in those matchups.

Bundy Seeking 3rd Win Over Boston This Season

Poor location on one pitch to Melky Cabrera was the only mistake Price made in his 2017 debut On Memorial Day in Chicago against the White Sox. Nursing a balky elbow since Spring Training, the southpaw only allowed one hit other than Cabrera’s 3-run blast, and worked through five innings on 88 pitches. Tonight will be his 11th career start at Orioles Park, and his personal ledger includes a perfect 6-0 record with a 3.14 ERA (63 IP).

Bundy is coming off a victory the same day against the Yankees, tossing seven frames and allowing two runs in Baltimore’s 3-2 triumph. That decision stopped a 3-game skid for the O’s with the 24 year old on the mound, Bundy pitching well enough to have won two of those games only to receive a combined two runs in assignments vs. the Twins and at Kansas City. He has already beaten the Red Sox twice this year, blanking them over seven innings here in Baltimore back in April and coaxing Boston batters to ground into three double plays.

Umpire Notes, Mother Nature & A Free Pick

Saturday’s skirmish should find Doug Eddings calling balls and strikes, the 20-year veteran bringing a strong ‘over’ tendency so far this season into the contest (8-1-1 O/U/P). Known for having a generous strike zone, the New Mexico native has been something of a good luck charm for the Orioles when working the plate in Baltimore, the home team winning his last four assignments while totals split 2-2 in those affairs.

Everything looks fine on the weather with temps in the upper-70s, clear skies and a light northerly breeze. And everything looks good for an ‘under’ play for my free baseball pick.
