Both Jose Quintana of the White Sox and Zach McAllister of the Indians showed some glimpses of greatness last season and both are off to good starts this year so go ‘under’ in Chicago.

There could be a pitching duel between two up-and-coming young pitchers in the Windy City Tuesday night when Zach McAllister and the Cleveland Indians (8-10, 6-4 away) pay a visit to Jose Quintana and the Chicago White Sox (7-12, 4-5 home) in the second game of a three-game series from U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, IL at 8:10 ET.

The posted total at Bookmaker Sportsbook is 8 for this contest with the current odds on the ‘under’ set at -105.

The White Sox are struggling badly at the plate thus far, ranking an identical 27th in the Major Leagues in both runs scored at 3.32 per game and batting average at .229, and they have now lost four straight games after losing the series opener to the Indians 3-2 here at home last night while scoring a grand total of seven runs over the four losses and never exceeding three runs.

The pitching meanwhile has been there for the most part for Chicago as the White Sox rank fifth in the majors with a 3.33 team ERA, and thus the end result has been a lucrative 14-4-1 ‘under’ record! That may not sit too well with the starting pitchers, but they have continued to go out and perform well, including tonight’s young starter Quintana.

The 24-year-old southpaw from Columbia showed some signs of brilliance for the White Sox last season, and following a rough 2013 debut, Quintana has been magnificent while tossing 13.2 scoreless innings over his last two starts, allowing a paltry six hits in those outings with 14 strikeouts vs. two walks. Most recently the 1-0 Quintana tossed 6.2 scoreless innings while allowing just five hits vs. the Toronto Blue Jays to finally record his first victory.

His previous start came vs. these Indians on April 12th when he allowed only one measly hit over seven scoreless innings, but received no decision in a game Chicago ultimately lost 1-0. That was the second gem Quintana threw at the Tribe in two career starts against them, as he allowed two runs on only four hits in six innings in this ballpark last season.

The 25-year-old McAllister also pitched very well in stretches for Cleveland last year and his 1-2 record this season does not do him justice considering his 3.15 ERA and 1.15 WHIP, as he too has displayed very good command with 16 strikeouts vs. three walks in 17.1 innings. He has already faced the White Sox four times in his brief career and he has yet to allow more than two earned runs against them!

That includes one start this season on April 13th where McAllister got the win while limiting Chicago to one earned run on just five hits in 6.1 innings with six strikeouts while not walking a single batter. He figures to have continued success tonight vs. a White Sox lineup that is batting only .222 vs. right-handed pitchers this early season overall and .211 against them at home.

Thus, look for both hurlers to continue their fine starts and for the White Sox amazing string of ‘unders’ to continue.
