It looks like a great pitching duel is taking shape in Arlington as Yu Darvish is pitching like a Cy Young candidate for the Rangers while Jose Quintana of the White Sox is also in raging form.

Runs should be hard to come by in a an MLB matchup between two sizzling pitchers on Tuesday night when Jose Quintana and the Chicago White Sox (10-14, 3-7 away) pay a visit to Yu Darvish and the Texas Rangers (16-9, 7-2 home) in the opening game of a three-game series from Rangers Ballpark in the Arlington, TX at 8:05 ET.

The posted total at Pinnacle Sports is 8 for this contest with the current odds on the ‘under’ set at -101.

The Texas Rangers have been known for their potent lineups for the last several years, but the offense is actually off to a rather slow start this season and it is their fine pitching this season that gives them nice value at around +1100 to win the World Series.

In fact, the Rangers now lead the Major Leagues in team ERA at 3.02, and Darvish has been their best starter of all while looking like a legitimate early candidate for the Cy Young Award. Darvish started to become one of the best pitchers in the American League toward the latter stags of his first season in the majors last year after coming over from Japan as he overcame the control issues that plagued him earlier on, and he has been downright filthy this season.

Darvish is 4-1 with a miniscule 1.65 ERA and 0.80 WHIP and a whopping 49 strikeouts in 32.2 innings with only 10 walks. Furthermore he has yet to allow a home run this year. As a result, Darvish leads the Major Leagues in both FIP (1.19) and xFIP (1.95), and his 1.7 WAR leads the American League and ranks second in the majors to only Adam Wainwright of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Not that Darvish needs any help given his form this year, but he is also facing a White Sox lineup that is ranked dead last in the American League with both a .229 team batting average and 3.46 runs per game. Furthermore, Chicago is batting an abysmal .206 vs. right-handed pitching over the last 10 games.

With all of that being said however, Darvish is not the only hot pitcher in this game. The Chicago starter Quintana showed glimpses of greatness last season and after a mediocre 2013 debut, he has been brilliant over his last three starts while allowing a total of two runs in 18.2 innings with two scoreless outings! Quintana allowed only 10 hits and four walks over those 18.1 innings with 17 strikeouts.

Moreover, Quintana also tossed a masterpiece in his only career start against these Rangers last season as he held a very potent Texas lineup to one run and only two hits in eight innings with eight strikeouts vs. just one walk.

Thus look for a good old fashioned pitching duel in Arlington and go ‘under’ on Tuesday.
