The Orioles are off to another fine start at 15-10 and they are second in the Major Leagues in runs scored. Look for them to get to Joe Saunders of the Mariners en route to another win.

The road team coming off of a Cinderella season continues to prove its skeptics wrong and may do so again on Monday night when Zach Britton and those Baltimore Orioles (15-10, 8-5 away) pay a visit to Joe Saunders and the Seattle Mariners (11-16, 7-7 home) as the teams open up a three-game series from Safeco Field in Seattle, WA at 10:10 ET.

The posted money line at 5 Dimes has Baltimore as a small road favorite for this contest at current odds of -108.

The Orioles have kicked off a brutal west coast road trip that will see them play 11 games in 11 days by taking three out of four games in Oakland and very nearly pulling off the sweep, as they lost 9-8 in 10 innings on Sunday after blowing a 5-0 lead and also a two-run lead in the bottom of the ninth.

Still, it was a promising start to the road trip for a Baltimore team that came out of nowhere last season to earn a wild card berth after being picked to finish last in the American League East before the year, only to be criticized because their Cinderella playoff run was fueled by luck due to an inordinate amount of extra-inning and one-run wins.

Well, the Orioles are trying to quiet those critics with a 15-10 start this year that has them three games behind the Boston Red Sox early on, and Baltimore is ranked second in the Major Leagues in runs scored with 5.16 per game, fifth in batting average at .266 and fifth in OPS at .760. The O’s hope those bats now stay hot in the series opener in Seattle vs. the struggling Saunders.

The southpaw is in his first season with the Mariners and he has failed to impress thus far, as Saunders is 1-3 through five starts with a bloated 6.33 ERA and 1.78 WHIP with just as many walks as strikeouts with 12 apiece in 27 innings.

He has been especially awful in his last two starts vs. two Texas teams, as the light-hitting Houston Astros reached Saunders for eight earned runs on 11 hits plus two walks in just five innings last Wednesday after the Texas Rangers had gotten to him for seven earned runs on nine hits plus three walks in only 4.2 innings his previous outing.

The Orioles have recalled the fellow southpaw Britton from the minors to make his first start of the season, although he does have past Major League experience including posting a 2.57 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in two career starts vs. the Mariners.

Then again, if you are left-handed, you should have success against the Mariners especially when playing here in Seattle! That is because the Mariners are batting .203 vs. left-handers and averaging a pitiful 1.73 run per nine innings against them at home, so Britton certainly seems to be handed a nice first assignment of the year here.

Look for the Seattle struggles vs. southpaws and the success of the Baltimore offense to both continue in an Orioles’ victory on Monday.
