Trevor Cahill has pitched well in all three starts for the Diamondbacks without a win to show for it while Jorge De La Rosa of the Rockies has a 2.41 ERA in 16 appearances vs. Arizona.

Look for the game to stay in the single-digits in the altitude on Saturday night when Trevor Cahill and the Arizona Diamondbacks (9-7, 4-3 away) pay a visit to Jorge De La Rosa and the Colorado Rockies (12-4, 7-0 home) in the second game of a three-game series from Coors Field in Denver, CO at 8:10 ET.

The posted total at 5 Dimes is 9½ for this contest with the current odds on the ‘under’ set at -115.

The Rockies won the series opener here 3-1 last night, marking not only the seventh straight win for Colorado overall, but also the fifth straight ‘under’ for an Arizona team that continues to get good pitching.

Arizona is ranked third in the National League with a 3.41 team ERA, helped by a bullpen that is second in the National League in pen ERA at 2.24. Of course another reason why the ‘under’ is now 10-6 in all Arizona games is because the offense has been inconsistent, and it has been downright bad against left-handed pitchers hitting just .198 against them.

Tonight’s starter Cahill deserves to be better than 0-2 in three starts, as he has a 3.50 ERA and a good 1.11 WHIP with an impressive 18 strikeouts in 18 innings. Cahill tossed 7.1 scoreless innings at the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday, but as fate would have it he received no decision in the 1-0 Diamondbacks’ victory.

Cahill also fared well the last time he pitched in Coors Field, allowing only two earned runs in six innings to give him a 3.44 ERA in three career starts in Denver, so the altitude apparently has minimal effect on him. In fact the ‘under’ is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these teams and the ‘over’ actually came in Arizona, so the Diamondbacks know how to pitch in Colorado, no doubt helped by being in the same division as the Rockies and thus playing here so often.

The Rockies are on a roll as Colorado pulled off three-game series sweeps over both the San Diego Padres and the New York Mets before beating the Snakes in the series opener, and you may be surprised to learn that the Rockies are a respectable seventh in the National League wit a 3.85 team ERA.

Now De La Rosa is the next southpaw trying to exploit Arizona’s weakness vs. lefties this season, and he is coming off of back-to-back Quality Starts including hurling six scoreless innings vs. the Padres his last time out on Sunday. More importantly in regards to this matchup, De La Rosa has always pitched well against the Diamondbacks, posting a 2.41 ERA in 16 career appearances including 12 starts against them while holding Arizona batters to a .209 average.

Thus, look for another ‘under’ in this head-to-head series on Saturday.
