We browse the early odds board in search of betting value on Friday's card. Read on for two MLB picks that will maximize your profits to start the weekend right.

Mariners vs. Red Sox

Yovani Gallardo will take the hill for the Mariners, coming off his worst start of the season. Gallardo gave up 10 runs (nine earned) on nine hits (two home runs) over just 3 2/3 innings of a 16-1 loss against the White Sox last Saturday. The right-hander is just 1-2 with a 4.43 ERA in four road starts and he went 1-1 with a 4.09 ERA in two starts against the Red Sox last season.

The Red Sox will go with Eduardo Rodriguez (3-1, 3.10 ERA, 1.09 WHIP in nine appearances), who has allowed three earned runs or less in seven of his eight starts. Rodriguez allowed three earned runs on six hits (one home run) with eight strikeouts and one walk over eight innings in Sunday's 12-3 win against the Athletics and he has posted a 2.38 ERA in two home starts.
The Mariners struggle on the road and Rodriguez has six quality starts already and he's been solid at Fenway Park. This pitching matchup clearly favors the Red Sox and they're the better team, so I'll take them on the runline at +105 MLB odds

Cubs vs. Dodgers

Right-hander Jake Arrieta, who will make his 10th start of the season, allowed an unearned run on five hits with six strikeouts and one walk over six innings in Sunday's 13-6 win against the Brewers, snapping a two-start losing streak and lowering his ERA to 4.80. Arrieta does have a 3-3 record with a poor 5.73 ERA in six road starts and a 4.41 ERA in three night starts.

Alex Wood will get the ball for the Dodgers, he is now 5-0 with a 1.88 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP after throwing 7 1/3 scoreless innings against the Marlins last Friday, improving to 4-0 with a 1.59 ERA in five home games (three starts) this season.

Wood has become the second best pitcher on the Dodgers behind Clayton Kershaw and he has been a money maker for me this season on several occassions, so I will continue to back him with my MLB picks for now.
