We browse the early odds board in search of MLB betting value on Sunday's card. Read on for two selections to maximize your profits.

Phillies vs. Pirates

Aaron Nola will come off the disabled list to make his fourth start for the Phillies. He threw 6 1/3 shutout innings (83 pitches) during his last rehab start for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday and he posted a 4.50 ERA and with 15 strikeouts across 16 innings before injuring his back. He gave up four earned over five innings to get a 6-4 win over the Mets in his last major league start on April 20.

The Pirates will go with Chad Kuhl, who dealt with back issues during his last start and has lost his last four decisions. Kuhl allowed six earned runs on 10 hits over just four innings in an 8-4 loss aganist the Nationals last Tuesday and he's 1-2 with a horrible 11.20 ERA in four home starts.

The Phillies aren't playing well and their offense isn't impressive but facing Kuhl in Pittsburgh while having Nola on the mound gives them decent betting value at -108 MLB odds. Philadelphia is the play here, Kuhl has been a mess this season and he's not 100 percent.

Royals vs. Twins

Jason Hammel will make his ninth start of the season for the Royals. He gave up five earned runs on nine hits and a walk over six innings in Tuesday's 7-1 loss against the Yankees while failing to strike out a batter.

Hammel has allowed at least five runs in three of his last four starts and he's 0-2 with a 7.20 ERA in three road starts and 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA in three day starts.

Phil Hughes will start for the Twins after allowing five earned runs over just five innings to take a 7-3 loss against the Rockies last Tuesday. This will be Hughes' ninth start of the season, he has given up at least a home run in six of his eight starts and in his last four and he's 0-2 with a 6.00 ERA in three home starts.

Hammel has struggled on the road and in day games while Hughes is prone to giving up home runs and he hasn't pitched well at home, so this is the perfect spot to take the 'Over' with our MLB picks once the lines are available.
