We browse the early odds board in search of betting value on Friday's card. Read on for two MLB picks to maximize your profits and start the weekend right.

Rockies vs. Reds

Tyler Anderson will take the hill for the Rockies in their series opener with the Reds. Anderson is 2-4 with a poor 6.43 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP after giving up three earned runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings of a 4-0 loss against the Dodgers last Saturday. The left-hander is 1-2 with a 7.78 ERA in four road starts and 2-3 with a 6.08 ERA in seven night starts.

Lisalverto Bonilla will start for the Reds after allowing three earned runs on six hits in eight innings of a 3-1 loss to the Giants on Saturday. This will be Bonilla's third start of the season, he gave up four earned runs and a home run in just five innings to get a no-decision in his only home outing.

I'm looking at Over 9 as one of my MLB picks. This is a high total but the way Anderson and Bonilla have been pitching justifies it and as of this writing, the Rockies and the Reds rank 11th and 12th in the majors in runs scored respectively, so it's hard not to like this play.

Marlins vs. Dodgers

Justin Nicolino will make his second start for the Marlins. He was impressive in his season debut, giving up just one earned run on six hits over six innings to get a no-decision in a 3-1 win over the Braves last Sunday and this will be his first road start of the season. Nicolino threw 7 1/3 scoreless innings to beat the Dodgers in his only game against them last year.

The Dodgers will give the ball to Alex Wood, who has become the second best pitcher on the team behind Clayton Kershaw. Wood is now 4-0 with a 2.27 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP after throwing six scoreless innings against the Rockies in Coors Field last Saturday and he is 3-0 with a 2.35 ERA in four home games (two starts) this season.

Nicolino was solid in his first outing of the year and he dominated the Dodgers in one start last season but the Marlins are 0-7 in their last seven games against teams with a winning record and 1-10 in Nicolino's last 11 starts against teams with a winning record and Wood has been a money maker for me this season, so I will back him and the Dodgers at -220 MLB odds.
