We browse the early MLB odds board in search of betting value on Tuesday’s slate. Read on for selections on two games that will maximize your profits.

Orioles At Blue Jays (Total 9.5)

It’s the last series between the AL East rivals until after the All-Star break. Toronto sits last in the division but only one game behind fourth-place Baltimore and five out of first place. The Orioles should be a lot worse than a game under .500 if you consider their minus-65 run differential. That’s the second-worst in the AL behind Oakland, and the A’s are eight games under .500.

The Birds are 7-2 vs. the Jays this season and took three of four at Rogers Centre from April 13-16. Rookie Trey Mancini is 8-for-17 with two homers vs. Toronto pitching in 2017. Mark Trumbo is hitting .324 with two homers. Welington Castillo is 9-for-32 with three homers and seven RBIs. Manny Machado is batting only .182. Josh Donaldson leads the Jays with a .417 average vs. the Orioles but has played in only three game due to injury. Justin Smoak is 8-for-25 with two dingers.

It's Kevin Gausman (3-7, 6.47) on the bump for Baltimore, and he’s last among qualified American League starters in ERA and WHIP (1.88). Gausman might have saved his job last time out in allowing “only” three runs in 5.2 innings of a loss to Cleveland. He did strike out a season-high nine. Gausman is 1-0 with a 2.60 ERA in three 2017 starts vs. Toronto. The Jays are hitting .294 off him. Donaldson is 7-for-21 career vs. Gausman with a homer.

Toronto’s Joe Biagini (2-6, 4.45) probably will be shifted back to the bullpen once Aaron Sanchez is activated from the DL. He was to begin a rehab assignment on Tuesday. Biagini was pretty good in his new role for a while but hasn’t been of late, allowing 11 runs and 15 hits over 6.2 innings in his past two. Biagini has made four relief appearances vs. Baltimore this year and not allowed a run over 4.2 innings.

Royals At Tigers (-166)

Detroit is now clearly going to be a seller ahead of the July 31 trade deadline as the Tigers are nine games under .500 and had lost eight straight before avoiding a sweep in San Diego on Sunday. You are hearing talk the Manager Brad Ausmus could be fired soon. The Royals, meanwhile, were 10-20 at one point but have gotten to .500. Somehow, these AL Central rivals have played only one series thus far, with Detroit taking two of three in Kansas City in late May.

It’s Justin Verlander (4-4, 4.52) on the mound for Detroit. Last time out, Verlander carried a perfect game into the sixth inning of his start in Seattle but received a no-decision after allowing three runs on four hits with one walk and 11 strikeouts in 5.2 innings. Verlander is 22-10 with a 3.18 ERA in his career against Kansas City. Those 22 wins against the Royals are the most among active pitchers. He was a tough-luck loser in K.C. on May 30, allowing one run and six hits over seven. In six home starts this season, Verlander has a 2-0 record with a 2.19 ERA. That ERA is third-best in the AL at home.

Most Royals struggle against Verlander in their careers. Alex Gordon, for example, is a .202 hitter off him with 30 strikeouts in 89 at-bats. Salvador Perez does hit Verlander well, going 23-for-55 with two homers and 14 RBIs.

Kansas City’s Matt Strahm (2-4, 4.80) began the season as a reliever but has made two starts with mixed results. In his first, he didn’t allow an earned run over five innings, but in his last he gave up five runs in three innings. Strahm faces Detroit for the fifth time in his career, making his first start against them. He’s 1-0 with a 1.69 ERA in 5.1 innings pitched vs. Detroit. Strahm earned his first big-league victory at Comerica Park on Aug. 17 of last season with 1.2 scoreless innings. He’s given up no runs in two appearances vs. Detroit this year. No Tiger has homered off him. Miguel Cabrera is 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
