NL West Matinee Affair at Petco
The Padres host the Diamondbacks on Sunday at Petco Park in San Diego, California with the opening pitch slated for 4:10 PM ET. According to MLB betting odds, the Padres are a -115 money line home favorite, and the posted total is 7.0. This will be the finale of a 3-game series in which the Diamondbacks won the first two. Arizona is now 6-2 this season versus San Diego, including 4-1 at Petco Park. Just one of the 5-games played at San Diego has gone over the total.

Starting Pitchers
Arizona will send right-hander Mike Bolsinger to the mound this afternoon. Bolsinger is a dismal 1-5 in his team starts this season with a 4.67 ERA. This will be his first career start versus San Diego. Bolsinger has been prone to giving up the long ball allowing 6 home runs in 34 2/3 innings. He does come off a stellar outing in his previous start versus the Giants last Sunday. During that start he allowed just 1 earned run and 5-hits in 7 2/3 innings of work.

San Diego will go with 27-year old right-hander Odrisamer Despaigne. The Havana, Cuba native was signed to a minor league contract this past May 2nd. He made 2-starts at AA San Antonio, was promoted to AAA El Paso on May 26th, and then called up to San Diego on June 23rd. In his MLB debut that very same day he was brilliant. Despaigne allowed 0 earned runs and 4 hits in 7.0 innings versus the San Francisco Giants.

Padres Bats Need a Wakeup Call
The Padres are averaging a paltry 5.4 hits per game over their last 25 contests. They’ve gone over the total in just 2 of their previous 14-games. They’ve also gone over the total in just 5 of their 26 day games this season, and are hitting a horrible .188 as a team in those outings. Going under the total has been nothing out of the ordinary for the Padres in 2014. San Diego has gone over the total in only 25 of their first 82-games in 2014, and is hitting an abysmal .213 as a team on the season.

Holding Serve on the Road
Arizona has been a huge disappointment at home this season (15-28), but has held serve on the road going 20-20. Despite going 4-3 in their last 7-games, the Diamondbacks are hitting just .229 as a team in that stretch. They’ve scored 4-runs or less in 8 of their previous 9-games. The Diamondbacks have gone a miserable 3-12 this season after winning 3 of their previous 4-games.

MLB Betting System
Any home team that averages 3.8 or less runs per game, and is hitting .225 or less as a team over their last 15-games, versus a National League starting pitcher with an ERA of 4.20 to 5.20, has gone 43-17 (71.7%) during the past 17 seasons.
