The Yanks, to our MLB betting delight, took the opener of this series Monday night 6-5. Do we stick with New York for Game 2 Tuesday night? Or jump ship to Baltimore?

New York trailed Monday night 4-2 into the seventh inning, then got a pinch-hit grand slam from Stephen Drew to take the lead. Former Oriole Andrew Miller then tossed the last inning and two thirds to earn his second save of the season.

Baltimore got a quality outing from starter Wei-Yin Chen, who left the game with a two-run lead. Meanwhile, New York starter Michael Pineda gave up five runs and nine hits through 6 1/3 innings, but also struck out nine while walking none, and picked up the W.

The Yanks won Monday as +105 underdogs, and the game played OVER its MLB odds total of 7.5 runs.

These two teams are now a combined 11-2 on the OVERS this season.

Yanks-O's: Game 2 Betting Odds
Much of Tuesday's MLB betting market opened Baltimore and Miguel Gonzalez at around -140 over New York and CC Sabathia, but early action was pushing that figure down. As of early Tuesday morning the best price we could find on the Orioles was the -117 offered at BetOnline, while the Yanks could be gotten at +114 at Bookmaker.

Also, most books opened the total on tonight's game at 8.5, then dropped that to an even eight.

Handicapping the Pitching Match-Up
Gonzalez will be making his second start of this season, after holding Tampa to one run and three hits through 5 2/3 innings of a 2-0 Orioles loss last Wednesday. He also walked five guys that game.

Last season Gonzalez went 13-for-26 on quality starts; Baltimore went 14-12 in those outings, while the totals leaned toward the UNDERS 16-10.

Gonzalez started three times against the Yankees last year, allowing eight runs and 16 hits through 20 innings. Baltimore won two of those games, and two of those games stayed UNDER the totals.

Sabathia, trying to come back after missing the last four months of last season, will be making his second start of this season, after giving up four ER and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings of a 6-3 Yankees loss to Toronto last Thursday. He also walked none and whiffed eight.

Sabathia last started against Baltimore two seasons ago, when he allowed 17 ER and 38 hits through 34 innings of five starts. New York won three of those games, and three of those games stayed UNDER the totals.

Personnel Update
New York OF Brett Gardner took a pitch off the wrist Monday night and later left the game. His status for Tuesday is uncertain.

Yanks-O's Game 2 Pick
The line on this game indicates early action on the Yankees, and while we never mind betting against the flow, our guess is the flow might be right tonight. Gonzalez put up some decent numbers against New York last year, but against a depleted Yankees lineup. Also, while Gonzalez walked five in his first start this season, CC walked none. So we like the underdog Yanks again for our MLB picks tonight.
