MLB Free Picks - Diamondbacks & Marlins With Top Value On Friday's Card

Arizona Diamondbacks Player Runs The Bases

Friday, September 16, 2016 4:57 PM GMT

It's Friday and that means that start of fresh, new series in the MLB as teams are battling it out for a post-season berth. See what we think will benefit your financial situation. It's our MLB Picks of the Day.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs Arizona Diamondbacks

Payback
I'm a believer in payback and this is a perfect opportunity for starter Zack Greinke (12-6, 4.54 ERA) to pay back his old team in the form of the Los Angeles Dodgers (82-64). The Dodgers currently reside in the 1st place in the NL West Division with a somewhat comfortable lead and are attempting to finish the season out on top.

For Greinke and the Diamondbacks (62-84), they've had a very disappointing season and can only play the spoiler role at this point. As for Greinke, he can only return the favor as the Dodgers embarrassed him in his last matchup against them at Dodger Stadium. Greinke has had a stellar career and the value, according to 5Dimes Sportsbook, where you can find a 50% Free Play Bonus, is evident when looking at Arizona as the betting pick.

Zack Attack
It's more like 'Zack attacked' as Greinke has not had much success against his former team. Thus far this season, Greinke has allowed a massive 10 runs on 16 hits in just 11 2/3 innings. This includes an outing on September 5th in which the Dodgers tagged Zack Greinke for 8 runs on 9 hits, including 5 home runs in just 4 2/3 innings. Greinke is a career 154-99 with a 3.43 ERA. I don't expect him to pick up his 100th career loss here and I'm sure that he's had this game penciled in on the schedule. Look for this quality pitcher to pitch well against the L.A. Dodgers.

As for the Dodgers, they will be looking for a little payback themselves as they were defeated by Arizona, 7-3 last night. This is a Dodgers team that's in 1st place, but their offense is merely average, led by Corey Seager (25 HR, 69 RBI, .316 BA), who is a shoe-in for the NL Rookie of the Year Award and veteran Adrian Gonzalez (17 HR, 79 RBI, .285 BA). If Zack Greinke play's up to his ability, this is certainly a team that he's capable of knocking off as the Dodgers are currently 4 games ahead of the San Francisco Giants for the NL West Division lead.

One player to keep an eye on for the D'Backs is Paul Goldschmidt. Goldy has had a somewhat weak season where power is concerned but has still managed to hit 20 HR, 84 RBI, with a .419 OBP%. Goldschmidt also plays well at home (14 HR, 47 RBI, .313 BA) and is 9 for his last 24 at-bats. Power has been an issue for Goldschmidt, but getting on base certainly hasn't and could be key in this game. I like Arizona in this spot as the Dodgers are not as good as their record indicates.

Miami Marlins vs Philadelphia Phillies

An Opportunity For the Fish
Believe it or not, the Miami Marlins still have an opportunity at a wild card berth despite fading quickly during the latter stages of the 2016 MLB Season. Miami is just 4 games behind the New York Mets for the final wild card spot with still 16 games remaining. A matchup against Adam Morgan (2-10, 5.73 ERA) and the Fightin Phils (65-82) appears to be very winnable for the Fish. Even though Morgan has pitched poorly, he's really gotten the short end of the stick where run support is concerned and the Marlins have won 2 straight games.

Martin Prado and Christian Yelich
This is a duo that's managed to produce on a regular basis for Miami as both players have hit over .300 all season long. Without Giancarlo Stanton in the lineup, the Marlins can surely use more contributions from Yelich, Prado, and Marcel Ozuna, who went deep last night.

Getting on base is something that Christian Yelich is good at as he possesses a .380 OBP%. For the season, Yelich is hitting .304 with 18 HR and 91 RBI's. He's also had 4 -2 hit games in his last 6 games. Yelich is similar to Prado, but provides more pop and is the leader of this team. Look for Christian Yelich to take advantage of weak pitching as there's basically 'no tomorrow' for the Marlins where the post-season is concerned. As for Prado, he doesn't hit for power, but is a .339 hitter on the road this season. These two players have managed to keep Miami in contention. Look for production from either one or both of these players tonight.
