The two New York baseball teams are going in opposite directions. Let’s see if we can capitalize off of their most recent performances and the “aces” that they bring to the table for today’s MLB Picks of the Day.

It’s almost comical how badly that the New York Yankees have played lately. They’ve lost 2 straight games to a Chicago White Sox team which has lost 10 games previously. With C.C. Sabathia taking the mound for New York, is this a great spot to take New York?
As C.C. digresses more and more this season, you might be able to get the Yankees at a good price. In his last 4 starts, Sabathia has allowed 27 runs and 37 hits in 19 2/3 innings. In this timeframe, Sabathia has gone 0-3 and this is as bad as he’s pitched in a Yankees uniform. I’m one of those believers that the player’s reputation counts for wins.
C.C. Sabathia is a lifetime 18-4 with a 3.63 in 31 career starts against the White Sox.
Forget about the Yankees inability to score runs. Forget about the fact that Arod’s presence is a distraction. This is a “must win” situation for Sabathia and the Yankees as the season is getting away from them. If they can’t beat the White Sox, they shouldn’t be thinking wild card.
New York brought their best to the mound yesterday and even Hiroki Kuroda couldn’t stop the White Sox due to Chris Sale, 3-2. A Sabathia- Santiago matchup is much more favorable for the Bombers.
C.C. still gets some respect as the Yanks are a -105 betting favorite in the MLB odds. Let’s give the Yankees one more shot with Sabathia at these odds.

Colorado Rockies (52-62) at New York Mets (50-60)
At the other end of the spectrum, you have a youngster in Matt Harvey, who is the future of baseball.
Harvey can put the ball in the strike zone at a roaring pace of near 100 mph. He faces a tough Colorado offense that has little pitching.
As I always say, pitching wins games and even though the Rockies have Cargo, Troy Tulowitzki, and Michael Cuddyer, their pitching staff is failing them.
Harvey could have a tough time. He finally faltered in a major way in his most recent start, a loss to the Miami Marlins in which he only went 5 innings and allowed 3 runs on 5 hits with 8 strikeouts. The Mets must also deal with the Rockies ace, Jhoulys Chacin (10-5, 3.40). Could Matt Harvey lose 2 games in a row?
Chacin has pitched well, allowing 9 runs over his last 34 innings. He’s given 9 quality efforts over his last 10 starts. We could see a very low scoring game here and Colorado looks to be a live underdog in this spot.
The Mets did come away with a victory over the Rockies yesterday, but are finding it difficult to manufacture runs with David Wright on the 15-day disabled list. Daniel Murphy and Marlon Byrd have been carrying this team on their backs offensively, but aren’t on the same level as Wright.
I want to see how Harvey reacts under a little adversity. Colorado could easily beat this team . I thought that the odds would be more extreme with the Mets as a favorite, but I’ll still take the dog here for my sports picks.
Good luck, everyone!
