Super Spot For Strasburg!
Washington has been hot lately and they have Bryce Harper back in the lineup. Harper immediately hit a home run in his first at-bat coming off of injury. He joins a Nationals team that gained a lot of confidence off of the Mets series and they beat up on Milwaukee yesterday, 10-5.
This is the perfect spot for a young talented Stephen Strasburg (4-6, 2.41) who has received little run support all season.
Strasburg and the Nats face a Brewers team that are going absolutely nowhere with their weak pitching staff. Yet again, Milwaukee sends out another tomato can to the mound in Wily Peralta (5-9, 5.58). As for Strasburg, he’s been the definition of the word “dominant”.
In his last 7 starts, Strasburg has pitched a total of 44 innings (one game of 2 innings due to precautionary measures of a possible injury) and has allowed just 8 runs. Except for his last start in which he allowed just 2 runs in a no-decision against Arizona, Strasburg has allowed just 1 run in each of his previous 6 starts. Another added plus is that he’s being allowed to pitch deeper into games.
It’s up to the Nats to give this young phenom run support and they should dominate here.
Milwaukee has their usual threesome of Segura, Gomez, and Ramirez to provide most of the production for the Brew Crew, but in last night’s game, Segura and Gomez came up empty. This could change, but Stephen Strasburg is not likely to be so generous. Look to Washington for your MLB pick in this game.
MLB Pick: Washington -1.5 -115 at William Hill
(The odds here are extreme due to Strasburg starting and the money line being higher than it should be. Still, look for Washington to walk away with a “W” here.)

6 Wins in a Row!
The Angels are definitely the team to watch in the 2nd half of the season as they’re playing well, have all the talent in the world, and have a healthy Jered Weaver (1-4, 4.15) back. When healthy, Weaver has been possibly the best pitcher in the American League for the last half-decade. That said, he’s off to a rocky start since his return from the IR.
Weaver gets to face a St. Louis Cardinals team that has lost its lead in the National League Central Division and are trailing the Pittsburgh Pirates by 2 full games.
This will be a dog fight until the end of the season. The Cards have their hands full as Lance Lynn (10-2, 3.52) takes the mound as the Angels look for their 7th consecutive victory.
The total for this game is 8 runs. With Weaver and Lynn facing eachother, that’s mighty appealing. MLB odds makers aren’t sure of what Weaver will bring to this game, but I expect him to have a big game as this is an important game for both teams and when you get two headlining pitchers to face eachother, they usually give their best.
If you play fantasy league baseball, leave Trout, Pujols, Trumbo, Beltran, and Holiday out of your lineups for today because this has pitcher’s duel written all over it.
