We crashed and burned last Friday with a couple of hitters with great matchups, but  we are still well into money-making territory this season. I have some more valuable MLB Odds winners.

Max Scherzer O/U 8 strikeouts
Max Scherzer has done me dirty in our MLB Prop picks before, but he has also helped up cash a winning ticket. I think we can be on the right side of the money tonight with a play on over eight strikeouts. Scherzer is coming off a July of less strikeouts per nine innings that in June, but tonight his battle with the Diamondbacks may prove enough to put Scherzer into nine or more punch outs on Wednesday.

Scherzer has nine or more strikeouts in seven of his last 11 starts dating back to the beginning of June and this season his strikeout rate overall is 32.2 percent. He is averaging 11.32 strikeouts per nine innings, so assuming he goes six or seven innings tonight like he has gone in his last 15 starts in a row, in theory, he should have about eight or nine strikeouts.

The D-backs should also lend a hand. Arizona also ranks in the bottom five in the league in strikeout rate against right-handed pitchers at 23.3 percent. They have been getting pounded recently as well.

The D-backs have been outscored 42-10 in their last four games and even though their offense has been middling for the entire season, for some reason recently their pitching has been awful and their hitting is slumping. Arizona has the fourth most strikeouts of any team against right-handers, so expect Scherzer to have at least nine. He averages about 26-27 batters faced per game, so if he strikeouts a third of them that would put the over into reach here.

Matt Kemp O/U 2 runs, hits and RBI’s
Matt Kemp had a rough start to his Braves career last night going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. However, he is primed for a big bounce-back night here on Wednesday evening as he faces off against Jeff Locke.

Kemp has destroyed lefties this season with a .415 wOBA, .330 average and nine homers in less than 100 at bats. His isolated power goes through the roof when he faces a lefty and Jeff Locke is the type of lefty who can give up one or two big hits to a player like Kemp.

The Braves’ new slugger has also beat up on Locke throughout his career. Kemp is 5-for-10 with a double, home run and three RBI’s against the Pirates’ southpaw during his career.

Righties are posting a .371 wOBA and .296 average against Locke this season. Their hard hit rate of nearly 35 percent against him is going to come into play tonight, so while the over has some chalk at -125, it’s a solid play this evening to boost our bankrolls.
