Hooray! The betting holiday is over with MLB returning to action Friday night following a 4-day absence due to the All-Star break. We have a few totals picks worth checking out here.

Rockies At Mets

The Rockies own a comfortable 7.5-game lead in the NL Wild-Card race following the break. Strong pitching, particularly outside of the hitter-friendly Coors Field, is helping to fuel the climb. The staff owns 3.83 ERA on the road, third in the majors behind NL West rivals the Diamondbacks (3.30) and Dodgers (3.83)

Friday's starter Jon Gray, who made news for crushing a 467-foot homer in his last outing, has led the Rockies to a win in each of his five appearances this season. Although the right-hander earned a no-decision in three, he’s allowed just 5 earned runs in his last 20 frames. Moreover, Gray has held opponents to 2 runs or less in 14 of 22 career away starts.

The Mets have won Jacob deGrom’s last five starts, in part to amazing pitching. The flame-thrower lowered his ERA from 4.75 to 3.65 during the run, despite ceding 4 earned runs on 4 solo homers in his last outing. DeGrom tends to shutdown big-slugging foes at Citi Field in his career. Versus opponents averaging better than 4.35 runs per game, he and the bullpen allow 2.12 runs a night. The ‘under’ is 12-3-1 overall.

Rays At Angels

The Texas Rangers shelled Angels starter Ricky Nolasco in his last start, scoring 8 earned runs on 7 hits in 1.2 innings. What can bettors expect for an encore? Potentially another early exit with plenty of runs. The ‘over’ is 15-5 in Nolasco’s follow-up effort after a bad start in his career. He and the pen allow 5.90 runs per game in this spot.

The Rays are 5-1 SU behind rookie Jake Faria. The right-hander has worked a quality start in every outing this season but struggled with his control in his last start, walking 4 with 2 strikeouts in 6 frames. The last five right-handed starters to strut into Angels Stadium with a 4.00 ERA or less are yielding 6.40 runs per game since May.

Indians At A’s

No team has cashed more ‘under’ bets on the road this season than the Indians have. They ares 27-12-3, returning nearly 30 percent profit. Starter Carlos Carrasco is certainly doing his part. Since the 2015 All-Star break, he and the staff allow 3.00 runs per game away from Progressive Field. The ‘under’ is 20-7, going 7-2 in 2017. Market correction is bound to happen, but probably not against the low-scoring A’s. Oakland’s 4.29 runs per game ranks 23rd in the bigs.

The ‘over’ is 28-11-3 in Sonny Gray’s last 42 starts. The A’s staff is ceding 5.83 runs per game. The 2015 All-Star has put in a quality effort in eight of his last 11 starts, holding opponents to 2 runs or fewer through the first five innings in as many games. The bullpen will need to show up to keep the Indians within reach; tough call for a backend that owns a 4.80 FIP over the last two weeks.
