Where the Teams Reside
Tonight will be the first of a 3-game weekend series between these clubs. The Angels are currently 2nd in the AL West 6.5 games behind the division leading Oakland Athletics. Texas is 4th in the AL West and 9.5 games out of 1st place. The Rangers had an off day on Thursday and enter tonight having gone 4-7 in their last 11-games. The Angels lost an extra inning affair at Cleveland yesterday 5-3, and have gone 2-5 in their last 7-games.

Starting Pitchers
The Rangers will go with veteran southpaw Joe Saunders on the mound tonight. Saunders has displayed shaky form over his last 3-starts with a very lofty 1.73 WHIP. Saunders has gone 2-3 in his team starts this season with a 3.46 ERA and 1.77 WHIP. The Rangers hurler has been plagued by some control issues this season as evidenced by his 10-walks in 26.0 innings of work.

The Angels will send red-hot Garrett Richards out the hill this evening. Richards has displayed sensational form during his last 3 starts posting a microscopic 0.43 ERA and an almost 8:1 strikeout to walk ratio. Richards has been very good all season going 10-4 in his team starts with a stellar 2.87 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. Richards is a very profitable 18-6 in his last 24 team starts when he’s installed as a money line favorite.

Rangers Decimated by Injuries
The Texas Rangers once again had high expectations entering this season and rightfully so. However, they’ve been hit hard with injuries. They lost newly acquired Prince Fielder early on with a season ending neck injury. Fielder was being counted on heavily as a key component in the middle of the Rangers lineup. They’re also without the services of Kevin Kouzmanoff and Mitch Moreland who are currently on the disabled list. Both of those hitters were expected to be key contributors to the Rangers attack offensively as well.

Angels Showing Signs
After a slow start to the season the Angels have shown some positive signs that they’re primed to make a push in the American League playoff chase. Their offensive numbers have been solid, ranking 3rd in all MLB averaging 4.7 runs per game, and they’re 6th in all of baseball with 75 home runs. The major flaw for the Halos so far has been an ineffective bullpen which has a staff ERA of 4.46, and has blown 41% of their save opportunities. In yesterday loss at Cleveland, the Angels held a 3-1 lead entering the bottom of the 10th, and then watched in dismay as Nick Swishers hit a 2-out walk off grand slam to win the game for the Indians.

MLB Run-Line Betting System
Play against any American League road run line underdog of +1.5 (+165 to -135) that has a starting pitcher with an ERA of 3.50 or less, and they’re facing an American League starting pitcher with a WHIP of 1.30 or less on the season. By following these guidelines you would be 59-36 (62.1%) during the last 5 seasons.
Free MLB Pick: Angels -1.5 (+105) over the Rangers on the run-line.
