Can the MLB odds favored Angels avoid being swept at home behind their consistent starting pitcher Garrett Richards, or will Toronto ride the momentum of scoring during this series first two games?
Sunday's MLB Odds: Blue Jays Look to Sweep Angels
The Blue Jays and Angels play their finale of a three game series on Sunday in Anaheim. The first pitch is slated for 3:35 PM ET. Toronto has taken the first two games of this set in a very decisive manner on both occasions. They were a 9-3 winner on Friday and then crushed the Angels 15-3 yesterday. The starting pitchers on Sunday will be R.A. Dickey for Toronto and Garrett Richards of the Angels.
Knuckleball specialist R.A. Dickey has been shaky in his last two starts, and especially considering the teams he faced. He posted a large 7.20 ERA and 1.90 WHIP in those outings versus Philadelphia (49-74) and Oakland (53-71). Dickey is 4-8 in his twelve road team starts in 2015 with a lofty 5.11 ERA. On a positive note, he’s 2-0 versus the Angels since 2014 with a 2.25 ERA and 0.75 WHIP.
Garrett Richards has gone 9-3 in his team starts at home this year while posting a stellar 2.53 ERA. Richards has allowed only 6 home runs in 85 1/3 innings pitched at home. That’s something to heavily consider since he’ll be facing a Toronto team today which has smashed 165 home runs this season. Richards also has an impressive 2.87 ERA in seven day game starts in 2015, and six of those have gone under the total.
Toronto has gone an outstanding 40-23 (.635) at home this year. However, they’ve been a less than imposing 28-32 (.467) on the road. The Blue Jays have gone 4-2 in their last six games, and that’s significant considering Toronto is 2-12 on the road this year after winning four or five of their previous six.
Before locking in Sunday's MLB Picks note that this will be the finale of a seven game home stand for the Angels. They were able to capture the first three games of this sequence only to drop the last three. In actuality, they’ve been very fortunate to be 3-3 in those previous six, considering they’ve averaged just a paltry 2.5 runs and 6.3 hits per game. They enter today trailing Texas by a half game for the final American League wild card position. According to current MLB betting odds at TheGreek, Los Angeles is -101 on the money line. The Angels have gone a very profitable 27-14 at home in 2015 when they’re -100 to -150 on the money line.
Garrett Richards has been a money pitcher at home for the Angels throughout his still very young career. R.A. Dickey has been erratic on the road this year, and his previous two starts certainly don’t bode well for having confidence in him on Sunday. I look for the Angels to capture a much needed win today for one of my MLB Picks.
