Coming off another 2-0 day, let’s see if we can carry that momentum with our Friday picks.

In this weekend's series, teams are playing at their peak performance level and we’re nearing the month of July where things really start to heat up for baseball. Let's review our winning baseball picks!

Washington Nationals (39-39) at New York Mets (32-43)

It’s Matt Harvey Day!

Everytime that Matt Harvey takes the mound for the Mets, it puts them at a distinct advantage and he appears to be the future in pitching in the major leagues.

Harvey is coming off of a pure beating of the Philadelphia Phillies, 8-0 in which he threw nothing but controlled heat.

I witnessed this game and that’s as good a performance as you’re going to see from a young pitcher which left the opposition totally baffled. Harvey had to leave the game after 6 innings due to a rain delay, but he left the Mets in good shape.

Tonight, he hopes to leave the Mets in good shape as they host the Washington Nationals and Ross Detwiler (2-6, 4.18). It’s difficult enough to hit a home run in the confines of CitiField, and even though the Metropolitan area has been hovering around 90 degrees, Matt Harvey can stop any offense in their tracks.

The Mets have a lot of ground to make up, but are the hotter team in this game, winning 7 of their last 10 games and 2 consecutive games. Despite not having David Wright in the lineup, Marlon Byrd smacked his team leading 12th home run of the season. Byrd has certainly been a surprise.

Wright is Right

I don’t know if it’s being labeled captain or the big contract, but David Wright is playing some of the best baseball of his career. On the season, Wright is batting .305, with 12 HR, 41 RBI, and 14 SB. He’s a great leader and fielder; this is David Wright in his prime.

Washington simply stands little chance in this game. They have one of the weaker offenses in the league and the Mets are a hot team right now.

MLB odds favor the Mets at -158, but quite frankly they should be a much bigger favorite. Make 2 bets in this situation.

MLB Picks: New York Mets -155 at William Hill and New York Mets -1.5 +150- at William Hill

Toronto Blue Jays (39-39) at Boston Red Sox (48-33)

I like this game due to the game odds and Boston's price. The Red Sox crushed Chien-Ming Wang in the 2nd inning yesterday and really exposed his lack of playing time over the past half decade. It got to the point where Wang couldn’t get anybody out and Dustiin Pedroia put the icing on the cake with a 2 run home run.

Tonight, we have almost even odds due tonight’s pitching matchup in which Toronto’s Josh Johnson (1-2, 4.60) faces Allen Webster (0-2, 11.25). While it’s true that the Sox are at a disadvantage concerning the starting pitching matchup, their offense can pick up the slack. It isn’t as if Johnson was at the level of Justin Verlander.

That said, Johnson is coming off of a dominant performance in his last outing in which he shutout the Colorado Rockies, 2-0. Johnson pitched 7 innings and gave up 2 hits while striking out 10 batters. To me, this is just one performance and the Sox still have the advantage despite dealing with tough hitters such as Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Bautista.

These are fantastic odds to grab the American League East Division leaders, for your MLB picks.
