Ross Benjamin continues his coverage on the White Sox/A’s series. He’s cashed in on each of his first two MLB picks. Go inside to find out all the pertinent details.

Chicago White Sox (Rodon) vs. Oakland (Gray) 10:05 PM ET
The White Sox and A’s will play the third of a four game series on Wednesday night. Chicago won each of the first two games of this series by scores of 4-3 on Monday and 5-4 last night. The White Sox have gone 5-0 in Oakland since the start of last season. These teams have played each other nine times since 2015, and seven of those games went over the total. According to current MLB odds boards at Bodog, Oakland is a -155 money line favorite on Wednesday, and the posted total is 7.0.

Starting Pitchers
Oakland will send their ace Sonny Gray out to the mound tonight. Gray was slated to be Monday’s opening day starter, but was a late scratch due to flue like symptoms. Gray was one of the few bright spots for Oakland a season ago. He went 14-7 in 31 starts while posting a stellar 2.73 ERA. As a matter of fact, 25% of Oakland’s wins in 2015 came occurred when Sonny Gray was their starting pitcher. However, Gray made one start versus the White Sox last season, and it was one he’d rather forget. During that outing, Gray allowed 7 earned runs on 8 hits, walked 4, and surrendered 2 home runs in just 3.0 innings pitched. The right-hander also struggled during four spring training starts, posting a lofty 5.60 ERA, and opposition hitters combined for a .311 batting average.

The White Sox will go with 23 year old southpaw Carlos Rodon on the mound this evening. Rodon is coming off an impressive rookie campaign in 2015 that saw him go 9-6 in 23 starts with a respectable 3.75 ERA. The one glaring concern that I spotted from his performance line a season ago was his 4.6 walks per 9.0 innings pitched. Rodon made one start versus Oakland in 2015, and it was far from an impressive outing. He allowed 5 earned runs and walked 6 during only 4.0 innings of work. The youngster also labored during his four spring training starts, posting a large 7.98 ERA, and opposing hitters batted an extremely high .323 against him.

Final Take and Pick
I’m keeping with the theme of recent high scoring games occurring between these teams when making one of my Wednesday MLB picks. That trend has been especially applicable in the games played in Oakland. Sports Interaction is the only major sportsbook that has a total of 7.0 on this game, and all others are at 7.5.
