The Dodgers are getting some great Run Production and an incredible Starting Pitching Staff, Los Angeles looks like not only the team to beat in the NL, but maybe also in all of MLB, despite having to fight tooth-and-nail every night in its own competitive NL West division.

Odds Overview

New York Mets at Los Angeles Dodgers (SportsNet-NY, SportsNet-LA, 10:10 p.m. ET): Chase Utley and the Dodgers return home to La La Land and Dodger Stadium on Monday night to face the beat-up Mets in Game 1 of a 4-game NL series at Chavez Ravine. Oddsmakers have opened up Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers massive -305 favorites with the Total at 7u -111 .

New York Mets

The Mets are a much better team when Yoenis Céspedes is in the starting lineup with New York NL a below average 38-48 (.442) when the Cuban sensation is not starting and an impressive 116-84 (.574) mark when he does. But it seems even with a healthy Céspedes, the Injury Bug has hit this club way too hard the L2 seasons, especially in the Pitching Staff. On Sunday in Game 3 against Washington, New York had starting lineup of: CF Conforto, SS Reyes, RF Bruce, 2B Flores, 1B Duda, LF Granderson, 3B Rivera, C d’Arnaud with RHP Jacob deGrom getting the start. Heading in, the Mets had L4 to the Nationals, being outscored 45-14 in the process, before winning 5-1 in Game 3 on Sunday.

The Mets (14-14 on Road) are really beat-up at this point in Time with SS Asdrúbal Cabrera (Thumb), 2B Neil Walker (Hamstring) both on the 10-Day DL, P Matt Harvey (Shoulder) and CF Juan Lagares (Thumb) both expected to be out several weeks and key P’s Noah Syndergaard (Torn Lat) and Jeurys Familia (Shoulder) both on the 60-Day DL.

 Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers and Manager Dave Roberts have had a great Spring and have the best Run Differential (+89) in the Senior Circuit (330 RF-241 RA) but still sat tied for 2nd place in the wild, wild NL West where the Rockies (W5) and Diamondbacks (W4) have been tearing things up. Against the Reds in Game 3 on Sunday, Los Doyers had a Starting Lineup of: CF J Pederson, SS Seager, 1B Turner, 1B Bellinger, RF Puig, 2B Forsythe, C Barnes, LF Hernández with Kenta Maeda on the mound as some normal starters got a day’s Rest. LA is in the midst of a 20 games in 20-day stretch, with its next Off Day coming Monday, July 3. Hernández made a great game-saving catch in the Bottom of the 8th for the Dodgers.

The Dodgers (MLB-best 25-10 at Home) have some Injury concerns of their own in 1B Adrian Gonzalez (Forearm, 10-Day DL) and Andrew Toles (Wrist) put for the season but the way youngsters Cody Bellinger (19 HRs, 43 RBI) and Corey Seager (.286/9/32, pictured above) have been hitting has made any games missed by LA players—like Jacob Turner (.382 BA, 502 SLUG)—invisible while the re-emergence of Puig (12 HRs, 27 RBI has also made this the best-looking team in the NL.

Los Angeles Weather Forecast, Travel and Time Trouble For the Beat-Up Metropolitans?

The Weather Channel forecast for Chavez Ravine on Monday evening is currently calling for. A Mostly Clear Sky with Light and variable SSW Winds around 4 mph with a Low of 66° and 75% Humidity, so, perfect Baseball weather. With the Mets (31-37) having had to travel the 2,451 miles west from The Big Apple to Hollywood and losing 3 Body Clock Hours (EDT to PDT) doing so and the Dodgers thrilled to be coming Home and in a good mood after going 6-1 on their 7-game Ohio Road Trip, backing host Los Angeles (44-26) and the Under—21-10-3 L34 games at Dodger Stadium—are your pair of Monday night MLB picks
