The 2013 MLB season saw some surprises in scoring through the year, which resulted in ‘total’ wagers to have their share of profits.

Here is a look back at which teams had their share of cashing trends in the world of OVER and UNDER betting odds.

Royals’ pitching tops UNDER clubs

The Kansas City Royals led the American League in Team ERA with 3.45, giving their UNDER backers cashed tickets at a 92-61-9 clip (60.1 percent). Royals starters James Shields and Jeremy Guthrie led their club’s tight campaign, with the UNDER going 40-25 through their 65 combined outings.

Kansas City was followed by the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees as the American League’s next duo of top UNDER squads, uniting to cash at a 175-131-19 mark. Texas saw stingy pitching from Yu Darvish with the UNDER going 20-11 in his 31 starts, while New York logging a subpar .242 BA and 144 homers to rank 12th and 13th, respectively, out of the league’s 15 teams.

The Oakland Athletics and Cleveland Indians saw some UNDER MLB picks tickets cash in stretches of dates at Coliseum and Progressive Field. Oakland had the UNDER collect at 19-14 in 33 home spots with calm winds of 10 mph or less, while the Indians’ visitors logged a 10-6 mark in UNDER wagers when any winds blew inward from center or left field.

UNDER wagers also collected at a high clip for a few clubs in the National League, with the Miami Marlins and Chicago Cubs combining for a 169-129-26 mark (56.7 percent) in that department. Both finished last in their respective divisions, with Miami ranking last in long balls (95 HRs) and Chicago coming away with a lowly .238 BA.

Angels, Mariners surge OVER

The Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners cashed the most OVER tickets in MLB, despite having disappointing seasons. Los Angeles collected with the OVER going 88-68-6, finishing with 4.5 RPG and a .264 BA. Seattle saw its home affairs pick up in octane from prior years, with the OVER cashing at 43-35-3 in battles at Safeco Field.

National League OVER’s were topped by the Philadelphia Phillies, who edged out a profit with an 83-74-5 tally. The team’s dates at Citizens Bank Park featured the most sparks with a 43-34-4 mark for OVER wagers, while its pitching remained a gap throughout the year at a sizable 4.34 ERA.

A look back at the year’s OVER betting would not be complete without checking on the Colorado Rockies and the confines of Coors Field. The season saw 23 matchups played in the “Mile-High City” that had winds blowing outward, cashing at a 14-9 clip for the OVER – giving the breeze factor as a deciding edge for ‘total’ players in the already-lofty facility.
