Will the Mets figure out a way to halt to their road woes tonight? Can Arizona continue their climb up the NL West standings with a win on Saturday? We have those answers & our MLB pick inside.
Mets in the Desert on Saturday to face Arizona
The Diamondbacks will host the Mets on Saturday at 10:10 PM ET. Based on where my lean is going on for this game, Pinnacle provides me with the most favorable price in that regard. They have Arizona posted as a -124 money line MLB odds favorite. This will be the third of a four game series between these clubs, and they’ve split the first two.
The Mets will go with ageless veteran right-hander Bartolo Colon on the mound tonight. Colon has displayed poor form over his last three starts, posting a large 7.27 ERA and 1.56 WHIP.
Arizona will turn to right-hander Chase Anderson on the mound this evening. Anderson has been a tough luck pitcher in 2015. Despite posting a stellar 3.26 ERA and 1.19 WHIP, Anderson is a dismal 2-8 in his team starts. The majority of the issues have stemmed from a lack of run support. Arizona has averaged just 3.2 runs per game in his ten starts, and that includes only 2.8 during the eight losses. Anderson has seen seven of his ten starts go under the total.
By virtue of Friday’s loss, the Mets have now gone a horrible 9-18 on the road this season, and that’s in stark contrast to their 21-8 record at Citi Field. They’re also 7-20 in 2015 as a money line underdog of +100 or more like they’ll be on Saturday. When putting the ineptness for that exact situation into perspective, they’re 23-6 this season in their other 29 games.
Don’t look now but Arizona has closed to with 4.5 games of the NL West first place Los Angeles Dodgers. They’ve done so by going a modest 11-7 in their last eighteen games, and have taken advantage of the Dodgers struggles over the past few weeks.
MLB Money Line Betting Angle
Any home team (Arizona) that averages 4.3 to 4.8 runs per game, and their starting pitcher (Anderson) is working on 5 or 6 days rest, versus a National League opponent with a starting pitcher possessing a an ERA of 4.20 to 5.20, resulted in that home team going 60-20 (75%) against the money line since the beginning of the 2011 MLB campaign. This betting system pushed me over the edge when making my MLB picks for Saturday.
