Two veterans take the mound when the Twins visit the White Sox. Oddsmakers have come out making Minnesota a small underdog, but is there any value in backing the Twins to beat Chicago?

Minnesota Twins

Ten-year veteran Phil Hughes takes the mound with a 4.32 ERA and 1.38 whip along with a 4-1 record so far this season. Hughes has always been one of the best pitchers in baseball when it comes to not allowing any free passes and this year he once again has been stellar in this category. He also has pitched well for the most part overall so I think there some pretty decent value in getting any plus money line with him on the mound.

Earlier in the season, he was great in the same spot in Chicago allowing one earned run over six innings off of just five hits. Minnesota, at the plate, has been decent so far this year and are averaging 4.59 runs per game which rank 13th in major league baseball. Their overall statistics are mostly in the middle the league but they have found a good propensity to get on base with a .332 percentage which ranks ninth in the major leagues. This game could really go either way in my opinion so some plus money value I think is a way to go.

Chicago White Sox

One of the more surprising teams this year has been the Chicago White Sox and today’s starter Derek Holland comes in with some solid numbers. Currently, Holland holds a 2.02 ERA and 1.04 whip, what really surprises me is the fact he is not a bigger favorite in this spot. Early in the season against Minnesota he pitched well allowing just two earned runs off of four hits in six innings and he has been arguably one of the top five pictures in the game so far this year and has not allowed over two earned runs in any contest.

At the plate, the White Sox have been less than stellar across the board currently ranking in the bottom part of the league in runs per game, OPS, and batting average hitting just .239 as a team. Again this is strictly a value play in which these two veteran pitchers should come out and throw well but in the end, it could go either way.

Minnesota Twins vs CH White Sox

Oddsmakers have made Minnesota a small underdog for this game at around +116. For my MLB pick, I will back them in this spot. Although Holland has been fantastic this season this really looks like a game that could go either way so for the value I will back the Twins.
