Yesterday we cashed easily with the Nationals as small favorites over the Marlins while our other selection never went when the Orioles/Yankees game was cancelled. Let’s keep cashing with two more MLB picks on Thursday’s slate.

Marlins (67-72) vs. Braves (61-77)
  • Atlanta is 30-38 at home this season.
  • Atlanta is 41-52 in night games this season.
  • Atlanta is 26-34 after a win this season.
  • Miami is 25-14 when playing against a team with a losing record in the second half of the season.
  • Miami is 34-28 against left-handed starters over the last two seasons.
  • Miami is 39-35 in road games after a loss over the last two seasons.

The last win the Marlins got was when their starting pitcher tonight, Daniel Straily, took the mound and did just enough to contribute to the team’s 10-9 victory over the Phillies. It wasn’t exactly a stellar outing as he allowed four runs over five innings but it was only the third time all season he had surrendered more than three runs. In addition, Straily’s team record is 18-8 (+12.0 Units) against division opponents and 20-13 (+10.5 Units) after a loss over the last two seasons. Conversely, Atlanta’s Sean Newcomb’s team record is 1-8 (-7.8 Units) when the total is 9 to 9.5 this season. Let’s back the Fish in our MLB picks tonight.

 Twins (72-67) at Royals (69-69)
  • Kansas City is 28-31 against division opponents this season.
  • Kansas City is 9-13 when playing against a team with a winning record in the second half of the season.
  • Kansas City is 6-7 when playing on Thursday’s this season.
  • Minnesota is 17-11 in road games against division opponents this season.
  • Minnesota is 37-30 in road games this season.
  • Minnesota is 48-37 in night games this season.

The Twins avoided a sweep in Tampa Bay with a 10-6 win last night over the Rays. They now land in Kansas City where their starter Kyle Gibson hopes to continue his pitching wizardry of late. Gibson has a 3-0 mark with a 1.37 ERA over his last three outings. This includes his most recent start when he silenced these same Royals over six innings en route to a 17-0 hammering of the visitors. There are a few more trends working in Gibson’s favor tonight:

  • Kyle Gibson’s team record is 8-3 (+7.4 Units) in road games this season.
  • Kyle Gibson’s team record is 8-1 (+11.6 Units) in road games against division opponents over the last two seasons.
  • Kyle Gibson’s team record is 9-3 (+6.7 Units) in night games this season.

The MLB odds reflect the Twins as narrow favorites in a game that shouldn’t be nearly that close. Let’s cash with Minnesota as the second half of our twin killing this evening.
